Oh boy was the rock n romp fun! I was swamped yesterday with work, errands, prepping for the big party and filming a mini video with Jenny Hansen but it in the end it was all worth seeing a huge crowd of kids get down to some local music! A big thanks to Kristin Guthrie Brandt, Jennifer Raitt Widdison , Ron Atencio, Mojos, nurture the creative mind, DJ Rubicon, Darma Sawyer, Brad Rizer, little cherry blossoms, vintage cupcakes and all of the other rad folks who made tonight possible. Ahh yes and now it is Wednesday, another day full of endless possibility. Life is short...and confusing...and chaotic but we have to remember to take moments out of the day to stop and pause and reflect and say "thank you universe" for all that we are given. Friday at 9:42 AM Oh my goodness today is the Afternoon tea at Ben Lomond suites! i am a tea party fanatic! Any excuse to sip tea and gorge myself on tasty treats and i am there! Plus i get to dress up all fancy and pretend i am uber sophisticated. As a girl who loves to dress up i am super excited about the outfit i chose and i got a lot of great feedback on it on my style blog, It's the outfit above if ya didn't gather that and of course my daughter will be wearing more that a leotard and tutu. . . or maybe not. My sweetie is out mountain biking and i am about to head out to the park and i suggest you get out there too. I know i say this a lot but Ogden is so amazing. I have lived in a lot of bigger cities and i have never experience the kind of camaraderie and local pride that i have here. I have been welcomed with open arms and have seen beautiful displays of community support that make me love Ogden more and more each day. Everyone always thinks the grass is greener elsewhere, they hope that somewhere out there is better than here. I am here to tell you that it isn't always true. You have to embrace who you are to be happy with where you are. I am so grateful to have finally found home, and it was where i least expected it. Thursday, one day closer to spring at 11:57 AMI can not wait for winter to be over with, no more colds, no more bulky sweaters HELLO sandals and sundresses! I think the novelty of wearing leggings and high socks has worn off and my legs are starting to look a bit florescent. On the upside spring cleaning is upon us and i am thinking a clothing swap is in order. Anyone interested? I have some news! Were thinking an April spring show and we need some volunteers. Thursday- swoon worthy at 9:00 AMI am literally dancing for joy this glorious morning because i am going to get my hair done by the lovely Alison Compton at salon nouveau. I need a change and my hair is beginning to bore me. Since i have been falling in love all over again with Rilo Kiley decided to get a Jenny Lewis inspired do. To top it all off my sweetie surprised me with a mini shopping spree at modcloth.com. SWOON! They are having their annual cabin fever sale and a ton of amazing things are 75%off. I cant help but fall head over trendy heels for a company founded by a girl and her high school sweetheart. I'm thinking of starting a style blog to feature my love of vintage and to promote a local vintage shop called Urban chic. Any photographers and other clothing obsessed folks interested in being a part of this fantasticness? yeah..i make up words. I am getting over my cold and have mustered up enough energy to clean the heck out of my house. something about being sick gives me an overwhelming urge to sanitize EVERYTHING. wednesdasy..it's better than a tuesday! at 10:09 AM yesterday! oh yesterday how you betrayed me. what started as a beautiful sunny day went sour in an instant. I biked 6 blocks to the grocery store but by the time i got there y wallet was gone. i backtracked a few times hoping i would find it before someone else did but to no avail. i even sent Bryan out to look for it...nothing. I tried to think of all the positives- but really i couldn't find one. As i finally calmed down i noticed that my daughter was being eerily quiet. Any parent of a toddler knows that quiet is NOT good. I peeked into the kitchen and there she was, chopping off her darling curls, a huge pile at her feet. Honestly i didn't have the emotional energy to be upset so i just started laughing hysterically. OK OK it wasn't the worst day ever. it could have been a lot worse and hay maybe a good Samaritan will return my wallet. Just a few weeks a go a guy dropped his wallet and i returned it to him -with all the cash in it of course. so, doesn't that make me due for a returned wallet? BFF's at 12:43 PM Best friends are the best-est and mine trumps them all. I'm so excited that my BFF robin is here visiting from Cali and I've bee showing her around town and having a blast. One interesting and hilarious thing i discovered about Ogden buses are their barf bags. nice!Day one was shopping until we literally dropped on historic 25Th , cooking an amazing meal with pasta we bought at Rovalis and ending with a tour of bars going to city club, Brewskis and Top shelf. Only one complaint the whole night- as a Californian she was NOT impressed with the alcohol content of the drinks and neither was I, seriously Utah....seriously. But, other than that it was a blast and so far day 2 is turning out to be a great one too. We nursed our aching bodies and lounged around in jammies to start. today our itinerary includes southern food until we bust, roller skating and heavy metal karaoke.  Oh and did anyone go sleddng on monday? I ran to the nearest hill and bombed down it until my face was numb. My advice don't get a running start unless your holding on properly and i am pretty sure my daughter is going to grow up to be a pro snow boarder. It was mad fun and i can not wait until there is more snow!  Since i am a bit distracted I'm just going to list events for the next couple days. I promise ill be back to normal once my bestie is home. The sick post at 10:10 AMForgive me if this post is terrible. I'm sick, my husbands sick but the puppy and the girl child are as active as ever. Were exhausted and i am slightly delusional from lack of sleep and children's Tylenol. But alas the show must go on and y'all need to know whats happening and i have an obsessive need to follow through with every blog post. i don't plan on doing much until i am cured of this mysterious illness but lucky for you there is a lot going on today. Every week all of the best events seem to fall on this day and this week is no exception. Every Wednesday the independent film society meets at grounds for coffee. Join them for some fun times getting to know your fellow film junkies in the local scene here at the Ogden meet up, all are welcome! Don't forget to check out the junction city theatres presentation of the holly and the ivy at SJCHS Evans Black Box Theater. I always wanted to have a movie-Esq holiday tradition of going to the theater. Who doesn't like dressing up and going out ? Don't worry if you miss it tonight its going on all week! Feeling like you just need to get on a stage yourself? As a country girl at heart, having lived the majority of my life in Georgia..OK Hawaii too, i love to country dance. I used to be a regular at the contra dances in Cali and love me some 2 stepping and electric slide. I admit at one point, probably in my teen angst years, i though it was silly. But, the high paced dancing, twirling and moving about makes for quite a fun night. SO i challenge you to try it once, just once, and with an open mind and try and tell me that it wasn't at least a little bit fun. Carpe Diem at 11:01 PM Early in the day at 11am Utah tea room is having their grand opening ribbon cutting. On their facebook the owner says "The day has FINALLY come! Thank you for the PATIENCE, LOVE and SUPPORT. I never knew it would be so much work but it is truly beautiful and the food is awesome! Please join me if you can. A few years ago, after i had my daughter, i decided to go all Eco with my cleaning products. You'll leave with freshly made window cleaner, furniture polish, all purpose cleaner and a host of recipes to create your own green cleaning. OK if your wanting to get out and have some fun then enough lallygagging about its time to speed up the pace. head on over to the union station for jingle bell jazz at the station with the WSU jazz ensemble. Due to the closing of WSU on Tuesday because of a blizzard warning, the November 23rd concert by the WSU Jazz Ensemble was canceled. It has been rescheduled as part of the Jazz at the Station programming, Wednesday, December 8th. In addition to holiday tunes, this concert will feature the music of the Big Band era. Some of the pieces will feature vocalist Sarah Marshall. Also featured on the concert will be the WSU Jazz Combo. No music is more evocative of a period of American History than the Big Band sound. The remarkable thing is how it still continues to appeal to audiences of all ages. Expect to hear music by Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, Duke Ellington and more, played with the youthful enthusiasm of our fantastic WSU Jazz Ensemble.Jazz at the Station provides an all-ages venue for jazz fans and students.
