wednesday in ogden:karaoke, metal and picnics in the rain at 10:35 AM

Today's blog post is going to be short and sweet as i am about to head out on an adventure with the lovely RayDo show (of to orchard lane blog) to do part 1 of a lovely photo shoot on the best picnic spots in Ogden. Yes in the rain, remember i moved here from Portland! It should be a fun and hopefully turn out beautiful!

So in the interest of saving time here are today's events!

wild Wednesdays at the nature center
What can dive at over 200 miles per hour? What has a beak that acts like a can opener? Falcons! Spend time with Jetta our American Kestrel. Learn what separates falcons from other types of birds. Then take a short hike with a naturalist to look for signs of falcons at the Nature Center. Meet in the Visitor's Center.

wildflower hike
We’ll hike for about 3 hours with frequent stops to look at/look up wild flowers. Hikes will be at various locations in and around Ogden Valley. Bring flower guide book if you have one. Outings are weekly on Wednesday’s at 9:am from May 18 - June 15.

Independent film society:
Join the film artist of Ogden once again at Cafe Mergot. (formally called 'uncommon grounds')for some down right serious fun. It doesn't matter if your an experienced player or new to the game. you are all welcome to hang out and mess around with other film interested folks.

The Basement presents: Local Metal Showcase
Featuring performances by:Breaux, Loom,Kalima, Mauler, Die Nasty. Doors open at 6:30PM, music starts at 7:00PM.Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door.

The Sports Page will the Home Base for the Mashup Crew in O-Town every 3rd Wednesdays we got on deck A FREE SHOW 3$ whiskeys that are all mostly top shelf Free pool and Jamaican Lager brewed by our Zion Crew.

Wednesday is a strange phenomenon. There seems to be a million things going on on any given Wednesday. This week is no exception. there are so many events happening i get a migraine just thinking of which ones to go to. so take a deep breath get out your planner and celebrate Wednesday right.

Start of your day of fun at the nature center for Wild Wednesdays. Can you walk like a bear? Get the answers to this question and learn how to identify the amazing autographs that animals leave behind. Discover why winter is a fantastic time to test your new tracking skills while taking a walk with our naturalist to identify clues in the snow. Christmas is just around the corner and its never too late to make some ornaments. the Eccles Community Art Center is hosting a Victorian potpourri ornament workshop for ages 7 and up. I don't know about y'all but i HATE the smell of bleach. A few years ago, after i had my daughter, i decided to go all Eco with my cleaning products. I found some great alternative to those harsh and icky chemical cleaners but sometimes they can get pricey. after doing some research i found that the same ingredients in the Eco products are things i already had around. Today the Ogden nature center is having an Eco-friendly cleaning product workshop This will be a fun and productive evening spent making non-toxic cleaning supplies for your home. Learn some simple recipes for healthier cleaning products using items commonly found in everyone's pantry. Create household cleaners that will be both easy on the environment and on your wallet. You'll leave with freshly made window cleaner, furniture polish, all purpose cleaner and a host of recipes to create your own green cleaning.

OK if your wanting to get out and have some fun then enough lallygagging about its time to speed up the pace. head on over to the union station for jingle bell jazz at the station with the WSU jazz ensemble. Due to the closing of WSU on Tuesday because of a blizzard warning, the November 23rd concert by the WSU Jazz Ensemble was canceled. It has been rescheduled as part of the Jazz at the Station programming, Wednesday, December 8th. In addition to holiday tunes, this concert will feature the music of the Big Band era. Some of the pieces will feature vocalist Sarah Marshall. Also featured on the concert will be the WSU Jazz Combo. No music is more evocative of a period of American History than the Big Band sound. The remarkable thing is how it still continues to appeal to audiences of all ages. Expect to hear music by Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, Duke Ellington and more, played with the youthful enthusiasm of our fantastic WSU Jazz Ensemble.Jazz at the Station provides an all-ages venue for jazz fans and students. Well behaved children are welcome to attend as long as they do not disturb the performers or members of the audience.

ALL musicians, poets, singers, MCs etc are welcomed and wanted. There Will be no featured artist this month instead we are just having a completely OPEN mic. So shake off those nerves and show Ogden your talents.

Now to end the night there's nothing better than a glass of wine and some blues music.Harper and mid-west kind are playing at the wine cellar just for you. an amalgamation of blues, rock, funk, soul and world music, Australian singer/ songwriter "Harper" creates a heady mix of roots/ jam music through his creative use of the harp, and the haunting drone of the didgeridoo. A busy Friday in Ogden at 10:42 AM

its Friday and there's a whole lot happening in Ogden tonight. whether you want to have a relaxing night strolling around checking out local art or you want pound a few and have your ears blown off there is something for you tonight.

At 6pm just when you get off work and your ready to get into weekend mode the historic 25Th street first Friday art stroll kicks off with local art, music and food. Listen to the street musicians and tour the various galleries to enjoy the fine art produced here in Ogden and surrounding area. Galleries remain open later for this special evening. Galleries include: Ogden Arts , Fine Arts Gallery, Gallery 25, Cara Koolmees, Ogden Blue, Artists & Heirlooms, Grounds for Coffee, Gallery at the Union Station & Myra Powell Gallery, Eccles Community Art Center and more.

The CJB is an energetic, addicting, and always fun Reggae Rock outfit from the greater Salt Lake City area of Utah. Their success so far has been attributed to their hard work and dedication to providing quality music to a young exciting crowd! The following depicts some of the Grass Roots Accomplishments made by the band. A solo album by Codi Jordan entitled “Vacation” completed in Nov. 2008, and received rave reviews from fans and industry professionals alike. From the album came The CJB, which has now become a performing force in the Intermountain west and beyond.

Hi there! I too am a transplant from the Great Northwest (Seattle). I've lived here for several years (also because of my husband.) I struggle to find stuff to do here and I really miss home. Thanks for starting this up! :)
