Thursday- donuts in the sun. at 2:08 PM

This Thursday is like no other its going to be amazing! The sky is clear, the sun is shining, I'm wearing my my Diane Von Ferstenberg score from urban chic and eating donuts (from toppers) in the park. Life really couldn't get any better, OK if i a computer of my own stumbled into my lap i think it could improve my day just a little. Today i biked over to the hubby's work to hijack his computer and let the bean tour his job. she has been begging me to take her and its finally warm enough to let her visit this frigging warehouse. She loved bikes and hearing her squeal with joy and she enters a building filled with nothing but bike parts is priceless. oh the wonders of being three.

If anyone local business, group or band is interested in sponsoring indie Ogden i have one large space and one small space left. Once i fill these spots ill be able to afford my new computer hurray! Ad space is $15/month which includes a local spotlight blog post feature, visible ad space and regular mentions. check out more info on sponsorship under the "sponsor indie Ogden" link on the right side on the the blog.

first up in Thursdays excitement is the planning meeting for the Urban chic/indie Ogden fashion show! We are in need of excited folks to take part- photographer, videographer, bands, dj, hair stylist, makeup artist, accessory designer, models and volunteers! also after the show id love to have local vendors set up to sell their wares! there will be a very minimal fee for vendors but we plan on guaranteeing a huge turnout! So if your interested email indieogden@gmail.com or stop by tonight's meeting at urban chic 2262 Washington Boulevard Ogden, UT at 6PM! cocktails and snacks!

After the wonderful meeting stroll on over to mojos for Thursday open mic night!
Host: Sons and Daughters of Mojos. Free admission!$1 donation gets you a delicious coffee, tea or water!
Show starts at 8pm. Get here early to get a good spot! Slots go quick!

Or if your in the mood for coffee and mellow jams stop by grounds for coffee on Harrison for the spring music series. Today is Brett turner , With Guitar riffs that rival Tom Petty, Lyrical story telling reminiscent Sheryl Crow and Bob Dylan, and the ability to portray the rock and roll spirit of Mr. Johnny Cash himself, this talented one man band is inventing his own genre.

so get out there and enjoy the day! Did i mention its good to be back?

Hey, possibly this post is not on topic but in any event, I have been browsing about your site and it looks really neat. It is easy to see I am creating a new blog and I am struggling to make it look great, and supply excellent subject matter. I have learned a lot here and I look forward to additional updates and will be returning.
I also strongly recommend to watch Hop online, it's awesome movie, rating A+

Thursday- swoon worthy at 9:00 AM

I am literally dancing for joy this glorious morning because i am going to get my hair done by the lovely Alison Compton at salon nouveau. I need a change and my hair is beginning to bore me. Since i have been falling in love all over again with Rilo Kiley decided to get a Jenny Lewis inspired do. To top it all off my sweetie surprised me with a mini shopping spree at modcloth.com. SWOON! They are having their annual cabin fever sale and a ton of amazing things are 75%off. I cant help but fall head over trendy heels for a company founded by a girl and her high school sweetheart. I'm thinking of starting a style blog to feature my love of vintage and to promote a local vintage shop called Urban chic. Any photographers and other clothing obsessed folks interested in being a part of this fantasticness? yeah..i make up words. Also I'd love to have local photo submissions of pictures of Ogden so send em on in to Bryanandmikki@gmail.com and ill link back to you! Check out terra45 for amazing photos pf Ogden.

In other news:
Baker Creek Heirloom seeds are now for sale at Grounds for coffee on Harrison. Pick up a packet or two for your summer gardening. Many of these varieties date back over 100 years. All proceeds from seed sales will help build a pergola for some much needed shade in the Sunflower Community Garden.

There is a a really rad ongoing art show happening and you all should go. I have a couple friends who painted incredible henna designs on the walls and its just breathtaking. It's called the "life stories sculpture project", Leah Wadman's exhibition of sculptural interpretations of people's favorite fairy tales and their own personal stories. Featuring Linda Brady, Jo Anne Taylor, Rebecca Samford, Nancy Otto, Deja Mitchell, Britta Stumpp, and Nikki Nicholas.Weber State University Union Building Gallery.

Do you have a canon camera and want to put it to good use? Head on over to the union station for 'canon discovery day'. Enter the world of the digital SLR. Learn about your camera and how to make great pictures with it. We'll take you out of automatic, but we wont overload you with too much detail. You'll see many examples of great photography, and learn techniques to use exposure, composition, flash, and a variety of lenses to get the same types of results.

Mojos is having their weekly Thursday open mike and this week its hosted by Carlos Emjay. All musicians, poets, comedians, acrobats and any other performing artists are welcome to come to mojos and perform. Starts at 8 and goes all night and as always its FREE.

GROW holiday party and coat drive review at 9:31 PM

---I almost didn't go out tonight when i felt the pulsing pain at the base of my head telling me i was about to get a migraine. but i took some aspirin , drank a little a little caffeine and with a gentle nudge from Mellisa ,who i met at the fashion show, i got dressed up and headed out. the holiday party was held at the borrowed earth emporium and as usual it was warm and inviting and smelled like lavender and coffee. there were quite a few people in attendance at the party and with a generous amount of food and a steady flow of cider and locally brewed beers everyone was feeling social and smiling big. to my great relief i spotted some other moms and introduced myself. They were super friendly and gave me some local mom tips. It was so nice to network with other moms and that alone was worth going.
---After a bit the GROW organizers called everyone over to make some announcements. Sheila Stone told us a bit about GROW and their efforts to bring together women business owners and potential business owners as well as other women interested in networking. It's a support group and a community and a way to help other women out with their goals be it organizing a charity event or opening a store.
---A few member of GROW spoke about their projects and one of them in particular stuck out in my mind. Rachael Blackman of foto graffiti http://www.photographybyrachael.com/ spoke about her project that was inspired by her grandmothers passing. Her idea is to go to nursing homes and do FREE photo shoots for senior citizens. She spoke about how elderly people in nursing homes often are not pampered, do not get individual attention and really deserve to be loved and shown appreciation more than anyone. Rachael's project is very inspiring and with some financial support will be a great contribution to the community. If you are interested in supporting Rachael's project or would like to be a part of her team you can contact her at photographybyrachael@comcast.net.
---After everyone spoke about their projects i went to mingle with some more people. Sheila Stone introduced me to the owner of urban chic who was opening her store that night for guests of the holiday party to come over and enjoy a 15% discount. I jumped at the opportunity to check out the inside since i have been eying it up to for days. Inside is nothing but the most beautiful vintage clothes ever. I instantly spotted a sparkly shift dress with pockets and had to have it but I had it on hold since i forgot my wallet, go figure. There are plenty of antique sofas and chairs to lounge on while you shop and beautiful decorations to admire. The owner showed me her backroom full of a most impressive collection of exquisite lamps. If you love vintage and you love getting a good deal then you simply MUST get over to urban chic.
---I have been so impressed with the way the Ogden community really comes together. Every event I've gone to since moving here has been a great experience. Everyone is friendly and introduces themselves to me and most of the time all the fun is for as good cause. Tonight id say it was a success and the overflowing boxes of coats and canned goods shows what a community can accomplish together. I can not wait until the next event and i encourage all of you to check out the calendar, take a chance and go try something new.
