Hello monday at 10:49 AM Hello there dear readers, The past few days have been so exciting and yet so frustrating. We toured the lovely Ivy lane reception center and fell in love. I really don't think we're even going to look at any other places. Now its just about saving and planning and trying to make it all come together. It is super stressful but i am trying not to let the monetary part ruin my excitement for the rest of it. After we toured the ivy lane we went on a family adventure! We stopped in vintage cupcakes for pink ladies and got a dozen more for my tea party . Next, we went over to the tree house museum for some exhausting family fun. The tree house is so incredible and there is so much to do. We were all tired and ready for a nap before we could visit all the exhibits. After our exhausting run at the tree house hunter fell asleep and the boy and i were ready for some grub. I was craving wings and had a groupon for wing nutz so we headed over. I thought it was a regular restaurant but when i walked in everyone stopped and stared at us and our kid making us feel incredibly awkward so we slowly backed out of there and headed to our favorite spot- Roosters. There is nothing better when you're exhausted than biting into a giant burger and sipping on a cold drink. I love roosters, they are always so nice and the food is fast and good. I am the type of person who will be a loyal customer for life as long as the service is good and the atmosphere is inviting. Ive gone to places with top notch gourmet food that will bring you to your knees but the service was so horrendous i never returned. Roosters has both great food and great service. After all that walking i was ready for home and as soon as i hit the couch i was gone. luckily it gave me a chance to get plenty of rest because in the morning i realized i had forgotten to go to the store for tea party supplies. Sunday morning was a gloriously beautiful morning and i had no problem motivating myself to hop on my bike and head over to the store. The sky was blue, the air was fresh and it was warm enough to bike without gloves. It was definitely a wind in your hair kind of day. The tea party turned out lovely and ended up being 2 parties in one. The first wave of party goers was mellow and sweet, the second wave brought the ruckus. Its a shame my camera died because everyone was dressed up so cute. I'll definitely have to host another party soon. The house was clean, i had my Jammies on and i was going to get some writing done only to find my computer crashed....again. My laptop will only stay on for about 10 minutes at a time before just shutting off , and not from overheating. Its beyond broken, this poor computer needs to be taken out back and put out of its misery. Time to start saving up for a new one, hopefully i can get one before this one dies permanently. seriously? sick again?? at 11:47 AM I don't know what happened to my immune system but this winter is kicking my butt. I have an ear infection , i cant hear anything and the pain is well...substantial. But there is always an upside to things. I got to sleep in today without a girl child pouncing on me like a rabid mountain lion, there is a ton of snow outside so i don't feel bad about not going anywhere and i have netflix so unlimited chick flicks, Mountain bike videos and that 70's show at my fingertips. Perhaps my sweetie can finally convince me to play halo with him today. . . or not. So needless to say the promo video has been postponed until march 4th. be sure to RSVP HERE because now that i have more time to prepare there is going to be some really rad goodies for all the volunteers. OK so i have to go lie back down now, my cup of coffee can not compete with the power of prescription strength ibuprofen. It's Friday , be prepared at 10:22 AM I had some pretty intense dreams the last couple nights- zombies, giant reptiles in the sea, tidal waves, acid rain. i don't know what it all means but i think today i am just going to stay home, drink smoothies and watch cartoons with the tot. The sick post at 10:10 AMForgive me if this post is terrible. I'm sick, my husbands sick but the puppy and the girl child are as active as ever. Were exhausted and i am slightly delusional from lack of sleep and children's Tylenol. But alas the show must go on and y'all need to know whats happening and i have an obsessive need to follow through with every blog post. i don't plan on doing much until i am cured of this mysterious illness but lucky for you there is a lot going on today. Every week all of the best events seem to fall on this day and this week is no exception. Every Wednesday the independent film society meets at grounds for coffee. Join them for some fun times getting to know your fellow film junkies in the local scene here at the Ogden meet up, all are welcome! Don't forget to check out the junction city theatres presentation of the holly and the ivy at SJCHS Evans Black Box Theater. I always wanted to have a movie-Esq holiday tradition of going to the theater. Who doesn't like dressing up and going out ? Don't worry if you miss it tonight its going on all week! Feeling like you just need to get on a stage yourself? As a country girl at heart, having lived the majority of my life in Georgia..OK Hawaii too, i love to country dance. I used to be a regular at the contra dances in Cali and love me some 2 stepping and electric slide. I admit at one point, probably in my teen angst years, i though it was silly. But, the high paced dancing, twirling and moving about makes for quite a fun night. SO i challenge you to try it once, just once, and with an open mind and try and tell me that it wasn't at least a little bit fun. I saw santa riding a mountian bike. at 9:09 PMMy what a busy weekend its been. I got hella crafty, explored my neighborhood and got my daughter a puppy- swoooooon! I also redesigned the blog- what do you think? I am so excited about this upcoming week because I've been doing a bit of plotting and have started organizing an amazing giveaway! I am saving up to go to the Weber tech culinary school just so i can learn how to make more food to eat. I am a foodie hence my love of yelp and i don't think my family has any complaints. I try and make sure i make a good home cooked meal several days out of the week and i love to experiment. i have a complete inability to follow recipes and i love to substitute and make it my own. Last night i forgot to pull out the chicken breast from the freezer so i had to come up with a plan b for my chicken Parmesan. I had some eggplant that needed to be cooked and i really wanted to make Israeli couscous so i thought id play with an old eggplant parmeseana recipe i knew. Earlier in the week i got a bunch of tomatoes from a great produce sale and made some marinara sauce with yellow peppers and tons of garlic. I grilled the eggplant with onions and added the marinara sauce and put it on top of the Israeli couscous with some fresh Parmesan cheese. It was frigging delicious, i wish i had leftovers but ALAS with a good meal there are often no leftovers. bellydancers, comedians and choirs oh my! at 12:56 PM Thursday night around 6 head over to the Athenian for some beautiful belly dancing by the local Ogden troupe The Tiger Lily's.The Tiger Lily's have been dancing together for 2 years and got their start when one of the members took a belly dancing class and encouraged the others to dance with her. Soon they formed the troupe and had their first performance at belly break coffla at the borrowed earth emporium. The Athenian has become their regular venue where you can often find them dancing for delighted patrons. Keep and ear out for their big performance this July at the Ogden amphitheater! ******** Friday! Browning Center for the Performing Arts and if you love choirs you'll love this. Voice Male is made up of six very different individuals. John Luthy masterminded the Voice Male concept while singing with some of the guys in the Logan LDS Institute Choir. Over the years, they expanded their reach further and further, traveling to several states and to Mexico, performing over 120 songs for thousands of fans. When they are not working or singing, they are enjoying time with their supportive wives and children. The latest tally: 19 children who like to call each other Voice Male Cousins. Who knows what is in store for the future of Voice Male. It doesn't really matter, because the past has been pretty great. For more holiday cheer check out the holiday house concert featuring Marvin Payne at a story book manor. Marvin Payne is an actor, writer, song maker, and recording artist living in Alpine, Utah. He has released a dozen albums of original songs and has helped craft a half dozen widely produced plays. he has acted professionally in about fifty films and fifty plays and over a hundred audio adventures for kids. Need a good laugh? Head over for Scott Bennett 'The AMBASSADOR of LOVE" at Wiseguys Comedy Club . Scott started doing open mics in Las Vegas in 1996. When he moved back to Utah in 1997 because of a divorce he was lucky enough to hook up with a club called Laughs which is now Wiseguys where they gave him a lot of stage time. Before he knew it, he was working on the road as a feature and three years later as a headliner. Scott is a regular at the Improv in Hollywood, and plays the Loony Bins, Funny Bones, Wiseguys, etc. Scott's also done a few TV commercials and bit parts in movies. Scott was the Winner of the Rocky Mountain Laugh Off and has appeared on Blind Date and 'E's Talk Soup. End the work week with a band at kamikazes and see shaky trade perform. Shaky Trade was formed in Ogden, UT in 2004 by childhood friends Billy Bommer (saxes, vocals), Greg Shaw (bass), and Simon Crompton (guitar). Picking up their respective instruments in high school, the three played in and around the Utah scene with several local groups. After witnessing a Weber State University Jazz Ensemble performance, the trio approached members Chris Clemons (brass, vocals) and Michael Wong (drums), and the newly formed quintet began rehearsals in the back room of a local tile shop. The five were able to find common ground and inspiration in groups as disparate as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phish, and Jurassic 5, and a potent sound began to take shape. Consisting of fresh horn licks, a rock solid rhythm section, and tasty melodies, the group quickly established a fiercely loyal fanbase Ogden is full of possibilities so learn it, live it and love it.
