saturday- where did spring go? at 10:13 AM

Saying that i was disappointed when i woke up this morning to find that the blue skies were gone is an understatement. But its no surprise that spring is known for its erratic weather and in no time we will all be trying to escape the heat of summer. oh summer you just cant come fast enough. To get your mind of the gloom and doom of today and the knowledge of the snow storm coming tomorrow head out to one of tonight's rad shows.

MOJOS rocks Saturdays- MILAGRE of Brooklyn, NY will be performing in Ogden live@mojos. Milagre is signed by Kill Rock Stars. Local bands are OLD WORLD (formerly Matt Ben Jackson) will be offering their newly pressed CD, Descriptive, Marny Proudfit, Kat Day and more... This will be an amazing show. 7pm/7bux.

Brewskis Saturday showcase- mullet hatchet- all southern rock all the time just check out their promo video HERE

Acoustic Saturdays at the bee with brett turner- The music of Brett Turner has something most musicians only dream of. With guitar riffs that rival Tom Petty, lyrical storytelling reminiscent Sheryl Crow and Bob Dylan, and the ability to portray the rock and roll spirit of Mr. Johnny Cash himself, this talented one-man band is inventing his own genre. While touring the country promoting his debut studio album 'All Across America' Brett's infectious tunes have spread to fans young and old. As he continues to grow as a singer, songwriter, and performer, his style and stage presence have become unmatchable and all his own. 'All Across America' boasts ads on Spike TV and MTV2 and has been highly praised for its originality, and its ability to warrant the question, which song is my favorite?

Wine cellar's 7th anniversary with shaky trade-Returning for a second appearance....this band gives you all that, and then some! And, if ya missed 'em at the Mardi Gras Pirate Party...then here's another chance! Don't let the "Good Times" miss ya (again)!! They gonna fill you up....with they "funky" stuff!Cover: $5

Students will also be participating in clinical work to evaluate procedures that can be implemented in order to improve air quality in Ghana, as many workers work in toxic environments, such as tar pits, where their health is greatly compromised. Toxic environments like these contribute to a lower life expectancy and lower quality of life.

Local spotlight- The R.U.G.S at 8:07 PM

Sometimes all i want to do is lie down in the grass and stare at the sky. I like to put on headphones and walk and walk and walk until i find the perfect spot to lie down and just watch. I watch the clouds roll by, birds fly overhead, the wind blowing the leaves on trees. I remove all thoughts from my head and just let my body be. You see things you don't usually have the opportunity to see when you let yourself absorb into your surroundings.

Whenever i am stressed out and need to remove myself from my world i put on a record that reminds me of those feelings. Listening to the R.U.G.S is like laying in the grass. Its like summer, running in a field, watermelon on a hot day, a daydream, a head rush or the feelings you get when you crush brushes your hand.

Formed by Rick Gerber, Jason Sawyer, Dylan Roe, B.J. Parker; members of Tanglewood, Spell Talk, Ulysses, Jr & the Transportation and A.M. Revelator. The R.U.G.S are a psychedelic mix of 60's rock and indie melodies transporting straight from an era past to bring you authentic and beautiful music. Check out The R.U.G.S for a moonage daydream , waking hallucination, mellow high experience.

Chuks vintage fashion show at 12:52 PM

Last night was incredible! Thank goodness for the gentle encouragement of friends who helped it all happen because it was definitely a night i wont soon forget. Kamikazes bar hosted Chuks vintage clothing fashion show with Ulysses and the house was packed. The clothes were all vintage finds from Chuks vintage clothing owned by Carrie Gerber. Everything from 40's Hollywood beauty to 80's new wave glam graced the stage as the models stomped down the runway. I know i was chanting a little ' please don't fall' mantra in my head as i went on stage but luckily no one fell and we all had a blast. Ulysses gave an amazing performance as well, getting everyone on their feet and dancing.

Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure. Have a good day folks! I gotta go drink some emergen-c and watch Star Wars and rest. What a wild night! Oh and be sure to check out the Indie Ogden video here http://vimeo.com/20687913

Wednesday-Thrills and chills at 10:55 AM

Yesterday was amazing. The sky was blue, the sun was shining and i barely even needed a jacket. I haven't been on my bike in a few days and was itching to ride So the babe and i bikes into downtown to meet Bryan for a family date. Our go to place in downtown is always Roosters, we never seem like a burden being there and the food is always great.

Today i plan on going to the tree house museum, the best place to exhaust your kids ever. The trick is to play with them but not too much. For instance point out something cool and say' race you there' but pretend run while they bolt. By the end of your trip they are ready for a 3 day nap and you still have enough energy to catch up on your cheesy 80's sitcoms.

Local spotlight- Mermaid baby at 9:23 PM

I am so amazed by the talent of the teenagers here in Utah. Is is the desert air, the salt and honey or something alien that makes them so ambitious? I do not know but i am certain that many of them are going far.
One band i have been keeping tabs on recently is Mermaid baby. Mermaid baby Are regulars at the local indie venues here in Ogden. Playing danceable surf pop their songs conjures up memories of summer adventures and first loves and are winning over the hearts and feet of Utah. They are currently working on their debut c-d so keep an ear out for more about mermaid baby. You can get updates on their upcoming show on their FACEBOOK and sample some of their music on their MYSPACE.
I recently sent these boys a few questions so you could get to know them just a little bit better. I wanted to meet them in person but having just contracted a mild version of the plague i thought it best not to infect them and squelch their chances of releasing a c-d. So alas i had to do the email version. read on be sure to check out their music too.
Who are the band members?
Jordan Ballou-Guitar/Vocals
Logan Arnold-Bass
Edward DeLaCruz-Drums

How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?
For about 3 or 4 years. We met in high school. Logan and Edward. we're previously in a band with a couple lesbians.

When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together?
December 31st, 2009. We just decided to get together and jam. Jordan had been writing songs and we wanted to make a band.

What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
Surf influenced Indie/Garage.
JB's Influences: Ben Kweller, Phantom Planet, and Weezer
LA's Influences: Set Your Goals, Saddle Strings, and Phantom Planet.
ED's Influences: Tokyo Police Club, Rush, and Justin Bieber.

How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?
A lot! We use to be super shy onstage, now we dance and get crazy. We've also found the sound we are set on creating.

What's the one band that you HAVE to tour with before you die?
JB: Ben Kweller
LA: Foo Fighters
ED: Justin.

You were recently on junction city live, how was that?( it was hilarious )
We are DEFINITELY not punk. But thanks Gillis. It was really fun and laid back.

I am incredibly jealous of anyone with big hair so i just have to ask...complete this sentence jordon ballou's hair is-
JB: I don't know.
LA: Mermaid Baby
ED: ruining this country.

What are your upcoming projects and goals for this year?
RECORDING! and making shirts

anything else you'd like to add?
Stay Golden.
