I just aged ten years at 9:23 AM

Yesterday my adorable curly haired daughter hid under a table eating a box of fudge while i searched frantically for her yelling like a mad woman fearing the worst. By the time i found her i was a mess, sobbing and squeezing her for dear life. If your a mother you know that the idea of losing your child is the worst, even when you lose sight of them for a second your mental stability just starts slipping away. First you frantically search for you little one and your heart begins racing, then when you don't find them panic sets in. You begin shouting their name, a little at first, once sheer terror has engulfed you you're running around wide eyed screaming like a banshee. We cant help it, we are too invested in your children to know what to do if they just disappear. We can literally feel our existence being sucked into a black hole as the seconds tick away. It's terrifying and then, after we find them safe and sound hiding under a table eating a box of fudge, its hard not to laugh at our insanity. Luckily along with our ability to go completely insane in a matter of seconds is our ability to forgive and forget; probably a coping mechanism keeping us from being insane forever.

Well today is a new day with new adventures and probably new scares care of the little one. So tie your laces tight, attach some bells to the youngins and get ready for some fun.

Only one more day until
Christmas eve and that means only 2 until the big day. I already got my Christmas presents, a new camera and a kitchen aid, so i am fully satisfied but i am just so excited about seeing my daughter on Christmas. It never gets old, and i just love seeing her enthusiastically rip open presents and hearing her ooh and aah over every little thing. The best part about this day is it's the unofficial Christmas party day. I am super exited about dressing up tonight and heading out with the family to absorb as much Christmas cheer as possible. Thursday needs to step up its game. Wednesdays take over the week with their jam packed schedule and the next day Thursday just throws up its hands and gives up. come on! well at least there is one amazing, exciting, blow your mind fun event happening to make up for it.

Thursday night around  6 head over to the Athenian for some beautiful belly dancing by the local Ogden troupe The Tiger Lily's.The Tiger Lily's have been dancing together for 2 years and got their start when one of the members took a belly dancing class and encouraged the others to dance with her. Soon they formed the troupe and had their first performance at belly break coffla at the borrowed earth emporium. The Athenian has become their regular venue where you can often find them dancing for delighted patrons.  Keep and ear out for their big performance this July at the Ogden amphitheater!

********

Friday!
Start the Evening off right  with  Drinking Liberally Ogden at The Wine Cellar,  Promoting democracy one pint at a time. Stick around for  the Christmas Ooh La La Ladies Night. Gordon Greenwood and Maegan Marett and friends jammin the night away. Special Christmas Gift bag Giveaways!

Next head over to borrowed earth emporium for  poetry, music and even belly dancing. Show off your talents and break free from the fear that has kept you from doing it until now at the open mic night at the BEE! Starts at 7 and goes until there are no words left to speak. http://www.borrowedearthemporium.com

Voice Male is performing at  the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts and if you love choirs you'll love this. Voice Male is made up of six very different individuals. John Luthy masterminded the Voice Male concept while singing with some of the guys in the Logan LDS Institute Choir. Over the years, they expanded their reach further and further, traveling to several states and to Mexico, performing over 120 songs for thousands of fans. When they are not working or singing, they are enjoying time with their supportive wives and children. The latest tally: 19 children who like to call each other Voice Male Cousins. Who knows what is in store for the future of Voice Male. It doesn't really matter, because the past has been pretty great.

For more holiday cheer check out the holiday house concert featuring Marvin Payne at a story book manor. Marvin Payne is an actor, writer, song maker, and recording artist living in Alpine, Utah. He has released a dozen albums of original songs and has helped craft a half dozen widely produced plays. he has acted professionally in about fifty films and fifty plays and over a hundred audio adventures for kids.

Need a good laugh? Head over for Scott Bennett 'The AMBASSADOR of LOVE" at Wiseguys Comedy Club . Scott started doing open mics in Las Vegas in 1996. When he moved back to Utah in 1997 because of a divorce he was lucky enough to hook up with a club called Laughs which is now Wiseguys where they gave him a lot of stage time. Before he knew it, he was working on the road as a feature and three years later as a headliner. Scott is a regular at the Improv in Hollywood, and plays the Loony Bins, Funny Bones, Wiseguys, etc. Scott's also done a few TV commercials and bit parts in movies. Scott was the Winner of the Rocky Mountain Laugh Off and has appeared on Blind Date and 'E's Talk Soup.

End the  work week with a band at kamikazes and see shaky trade perform. Shaky Trade  was formed in Ogden, UT in 2004 by childhood friends Billy Bommer (saxes, vocals), Greg Shaw (bass), and Simon Crompton (guitar). Picking up their respective instruments in high school, the three played in and around the Utah scene with several local groups. After witnessing a Weber State University Jazz Ensemble performance, the trio approached members Chris Clemons (brass, vocals) and Michael Wong (drums), and the newly formed quintet began rehearsals in the back room of a local tile shop. The five were able to find common ground and inspiration in groups as disparate as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phish, and Jurassic 5, and a potent sound began to take shape. Consisting of fresh horn licks, a rock solid rhythm section, and tasty melodies, the group quickly established a fiercely loyal fanbase

Ogden is full of possibilities so learn it, live it and love it. As always be safe and have fun!

Everyone needs a lazy day. at 10:15 AM

Ive been feeling a bit under the weather lately. Not sick per se but just icky feeling and i can feel the onset of some kind of cold creeping up on me. I'm tired, i have no energy and my throat has a little tickle in it. I've been drinking lemon, ginger and echinacea juice, lots of tea and eating tons of garlic. I'm hoping i can fight off this icky feeling before the weekend so i can enjoy my weekend.

luckily for me, and any other tired folks out there, this Thursday has  very few events going on. There's two that i found of interest and they are both very easygoing. In general I've had some trouble finding any Thursday events. so, if you know of any by all means LET ME KNOW!

The wine cellar, Ogden's Premier Jazz & Blues Club,  is having some live music by Daniel Weldon. Weldon has earned the title of journeyman roots musician. Over the years, as both soloist and sideman, he has rocked readily, serenaded sweet and lowdown, and twanged with the toughest. Weldon possesses a soulful singing voice and a warm stage manner that captivates his audiences. He is a gifted songwriter that also has the deft ability to give classic tunes fresh and thoughtful treatment. In addition, Weldon plays an astonishing variety of acoustic and electric guitar styles, picks a mean mandolin, and supplies a steady backbeat courtesy of his foot.

Later  the Utah Symphony is performing at the Val  A. Browning Center. Join the Utah Symphony for a holiday concert guaranteed to sell-out and make the season merry and bright. Jerry Steichen will lead the orchestra in a celebration of the season filled with favorite holiday melodies. Featuring Ogden's own.

After a busy Wednesday some wine and music is exactly what we all need. So as always, have fun and be safe.

The art above is by Namiki Falcon check them out their art is amazing. id love to feature some local art  and well as businesses, people, organizations and projects too so let me know if your interested.

Wednesday is a strange phenomenon. There seems to be a million things going on on any given Wednesday.  This week is no exception. there are so many events happening i get a migraine just thinking of which  ones to go to. so take a deep breath get out your planner and celebrate Wednesday right.

I don't know about y'all but i HATE the smell of bleach.  A few years ago, after i had my daughter,  i decided to go all Eco with my cleaning products. I  found some great alternative to those harsh and icky chemical cleaners but sometimes they can get pricey. after doing some research i found that the same ingredients in the Eco products are things i already had around.  Today the Ogden nature center is having an Eco-friendly  cleaning product workshop This will be a fun and productive evening spent making non-toxic cleaning supplies for your home.  Learn some simple recipes for healthier cleaning products using items commonly found in everyone's pantry.  Create household cleaners that will be both easy on the environment and on your wallet. You'll leave with freshly made window cleaner, furniture polish, all purpose cleaner and a host of recipes to create your own green cleaning.

OK if your  wanting to get out and have some fun then enough lallygagging about its time to speed up the pace. head on over to the union station for jingle bell jazz at the station with the WSU jazz ensemble. Due to the closing of WSU on Tuesday because of a blizzard warning, the November 23rd concert by the WSU Jazz Ensemble was canceled. It has been rescheduled as part of the Jazz at the Station programming, Wednesday, December 8th. In addition to holiday tunes, this concert will feature the music of the Big Band era. Some of the pieces will feature vocalist Sarah Marshall. Also featured on the concert will be the WSU Jazz Combo. No music is more evocative of a period of American History than the Big Band sound. The remarkable thing is how it still continues to appeal to audiences of all ages. Expect to hear music by Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, Duke Ellington and more, played with the youthful enthusiasm of our fantastic WSU Jazz Ensemble.Jazz at the Station provides an all-ages venue for jazz fans and students. Well behaved children are welcome to attend as long as they do not disturb the performers or members of the audience.

Now its time to drop the kids of At home and have a little fun on your own. Greeley estates is playing At the basement with Vanna, Tides of man and Bullet for pretty boy . they are a post-hardcore band from Phoenix, Arizona.- http://www.myspace.com/greeleyestates, Vanna is a post-hardcore band from Boston, MA. http://www.myspace.com/vanna  Tides of Man is a progressive, indie rock band from Tampa, Fl  http://www.myspace.com/tidesofman and A Bullet For Pretty Boy- Founded in late 2006 about two hours east of Dallas in the town of Longview, Texas- http://www.arteryrecordings.com/abfpb.html

Now to end the night there's nothing better than a glass of wine  and some blues music.Harper and mid-west kind are playing at the wine cellar just for you. an amalgamation of blues, rock, funk, soul and world music, Australian singer/ songwriter "Harper" creates a heady mix of roots/ jam music through his creative use of the harp, and the haunting drone of the didgeridoo. Borrowing from western and world music, this musical visionary develops a highly original take on the roots genre. For further information check out Harper's website: www.harper.biz
