 Friday in Ogden: marathon, metal and lots and lots of food. at 12:23 PM This Friday is going to be awesome! Not only are there a ton of events but lots of restaurants are having specials thanks to the marathon. Today i will have 2 blog posts ( one for today and one for the weekend) because there is so much going on this weekend i just cant fit it all into one, so stay tuned for Saturday and Sundays events too! Also it's bike to work day in ogden! Did you bike to work or take advantage of he free pancake breakfast for cyclists? i want to hear about it! I want to see Ogden thrive and flourish to it's full potential and i believe this is one of the ways we can achieve that! I love all the venues,bands and supporters of Ogden's music scene and i know if we all work together we can create something amazing. Each venue is so unique in Ogden, with different walks of life, musical genres and scenes. If we work together to help each other then Ogden CAN and WILL have an amazing BOOMING and SUCCESSFUL music scene. Lets put our differences aside and wok together! The Zions Bank Ogden Marathon runners, their fans, and the Ogden Community will be kicking off the marathon weekend with the Fun & Fitness Expo located at the Historic Union Station on 25th Street and Wall Avenue.In addition to the runner registration the GOAL Foundation has planned a great festival with vendors, give-aways, music and food as well as some fantastic running gear retail sales. Bring your entire family to enjoy the festival as well as the history of the grand old depot, built in 1924. The depot houses museums and galleries featuring railroad history, firearms, gems and minerals, classic cars and the arts. The Union Station is also the home of a restaurant and model train shop. Make time for a casual stroll up Historic 25th Street where there are abundant dining options with virtually every restaurant offering specially priced carb-loading dinners. Friday- snow in spring and rock n roll at 10:49 AM So remember how it was spring and we were all wearing sandals and t shirts and playing at the park? yeah, that's done now, nature decided it's winter again. Its like giving someone a chocolate Sunday , letting them take a bit and then throwing a pile a dirt on top. It's just rude and unnecessary. Now i love Ogden and i have to admit that the snow does make things look incredibly beautiful but i have a pile of sundresses that are just waiting patiently to be worn and all i want to do lately is sit in the grass and eat trail mix. Is that so much to ask for? W Until nature decides to make it spring again ill guess we will just have to look at this as an opportunity to make out very last (please be the last) snowman of the season. it will be a small, muddy and probably sad looking snowman but it will be a snowman none the less. We could also make our last snow angel, have our last snowball fight and sled our last hill. Spring will be here before we know it ...right? right? Thursday- spring music, punk bars and BFF's at 11:06 AM Today is one of those days that i just want to laze about watching he-man with my daughter and eating pie. After working my butt off writing, blogging, over volunteering and being a full time mama to a rambunctious toddler who knows how to destroy a house in 3.2 seconds... I think i deserve a little down time. saturday at 12:50 PM Yay its Saturday, the sun is shining, its warm out- what the cuss am i doing inside still? My sweetie is out mountain biking and i am about to head out to the park and i suggest you get out there too. I know i say this a lot but Ogden is so amazing. I have lived in a lot of bigger cities and i have never experience the kind of camaraderie and local pride that i have here. I have been welcomed with open arms and have seen beautiful displays of community support that make me love Ogden more and more each day. Everyone always thinks the grass is greener elsewhere, they hope that somewhere out there is better than here. I am here to tell you that it isn't always true. You have to embrace who you are to be happy with where you are. I am so grateful to have finally found home, and it was where i least expected it. In Ghana, students and faculty alike will participate in humanitarian projects including the distribution of bicycles (100% of which were donated by the Ogden community and later repaired by our good friends at the Ogden Bicycle Collective, Youth Impact, and Weber State) to women in rural areas to better enable them to gain upward economic mobility as well as to nurses for better physical mobility in reaching patients. Students will also be participating in clinical work to evaluate procedures that can be implemented in order to improve air quality in Ghana, as many workers work in toxic environments, such as tar pits, where their health is greatly compromised. Toxic environments like these contribute to a lower life expectancy and lower quality of life. Chuks vintage fashion show at 12:52 PMLast night was incredible! Thank goodness for the gentle encouragement of friends who helped it all happen because it was definitely a night i wont soon forget. Kamikazes bar hosted Chuks vintage clothing fashion show with Ulysses and the house was packed. The clothes were all vintage finds from Chuks vintage clothing owned by Carrie Gerber. Everything from 40's Hollywood beauty to 80's new wave glam graced the stage as the models stomped down the runway. I know i was chanting a little ' please don't fall' mantra in my head as i went on stage but luckily no one fell and we all had a blast. Ulysses gave an amazing performance as well, getting everyone on their feet and dancing. Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure. Have a good day folks! Friday - dancing, pirates and gardens at 10:42 AM Heck yeah! We have survived the week and it's almost time for the weekend. I am so stoked about what is happening that i can hardly contain myself. I get my package of new dresses from mod cloth today and i get to dance around downtown while Mike Brice films the indie Ogden promo video. This is going to be a great day! If you haven't RSVP-ed for the Indie Ogden promo shoot then go do it now! From 7-9pm we will be filming all the cool places downtown. Ive never don't this before and have no idea what i am doing so thankfully Mike Brice is helping out but be warned hilarious chaos will be involved. givaway sponsors part 3 at 10:27 AMMy staycation is over, my bestie has flown back to Cali and it time to get back into the regular daily grind. I miss her already but our time together was awesome. Last night was her final night and we spent it adventuring in the blizzard to eat cupcakes and tacos with my daughter , dancing at Mojos and trying some new drinks at kamikazes. Wearing heels in the snow is no easy feat but it definitely gave us some hilarious memories to look back on.

The ladies that were working that day were so sweet and nice that i didn't want to leave.
