Friday, Friday, Gotta Get Down on Friday at 10:37 PM When I moved to Ogden, it was with the confident assumption that I’d be moving back to San Francisco within the next year or so. When I moved to Ogden, I was almost afraid to talk about my plans, because everyone I told said, “Utah? Why?” or “Utah? MORMONS!” And I would look sheepish and shrug, or swear it wouldn’t be forever, or blame it on my boyfriend, who grew up in Ogden. When I moved to Ogden, I blamed it on my boyfriend. It was all his idea, me moving to the middle of nowhere. It was only temporary! I was way, way too cool for Utah. I was SO MUCH PRETTIER than Ogden.
Almost five years later, I’m still here, and I like it. I would even venture to say I love it. I love this town, and I love the people. That same boyfriend and I, we own a house and a couple of dogs. Every once in awhile, when the news is really bad, we talk about heading north to Canada, or when it’s really bad or we’ve had a crappy day, south to Mexico. Beachcombers never have to watch CNN or worry about the economy, right?
But they also don’t get to go to karaoke night or watch art films or hit the gallery or buy art to support a worthy cause or rock out to independent artists or eat a lot of hot dogs and watch baseball while the mountains that fill up the horizon all around you turn sunset colors. The way you can tonight! Ogdenites, give thanks you live in Ogden, and check out all the excellent stuff going on tonight in the O.G. Den. We we we we we so excited!

cinco de mayo in ogden utah at 10:08 AM![]() today is the day we celebrate.....wait, what is it we celebrate today? The date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride, and to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American civil war. In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. For the most part people of non Mexican decent use Cinco De Mayo as an exuce to celebrate for no reason, and there is nothing wrong with that! so what is there to do on Cinco De Mayo in Ogden , Utah? plenty! Hailing from Salt Lake City, Royal Bliss started in a basement as a few kids who had a passion for music and a drive to succeed. Striving to further their own abilities while building their fan base at the same time was always the ultimate goal. The music has been a message to those who listened, evolving every step of the way. From the early days when the lyrics echoed that of a late night frat party, to the deep, meaningful, and sometimes cries for help, the process of evolution is undeniable. BFF's at 12:43 PMBest friends are the best-est and mine trumps them all. I'm so excited that my BFF robin is here visiting from Cali and I've bee showing her around town and having a blast. One interesting and hilarious thing i discovered about Ogden buses are their barf bags. nice!Day one was shopping until we literally dropped on historic 25Th , cooking an amazing meal with pasta we bought at Rovalis and ending with a tour of bars going to city club, Brewskis and Top shelf. Only one complaint the whole night- as a Californian she was NOT impressed with the alcohol content of the drinks and neither was I, seriously Utah....seriously. But, other than that it was a blast and so far day 2 is turning out to be a great one too. We nursed our aching bodies and lounged around in jammies to start. today our itinerary includes southern food until we bust, roller skating and heavy metal karaoke. Oh and did anyone go sleddng on monday? I ran to the nearest hill and bombed down it until my face was numb. My advice don't get a running start unless your holding on properly and i am pretty sure my daughter is going to grow up to be a pro snow boarder. It was mad fun and i can not wait until there is more snow! Since i am a bit distracted I'm just going to list events for the next couple days. I promise ill be back to normal once my bestie is home. TODAY if your wanting something to do check out Brewskis heavy metal karaoke, Teazers Texas hold-em, arts n crafts camp at Eccles community arts center or ice skating!
