 Monday: zucchini, movies in the park and hops at 9:01 AM
Today is Monday and i am feeling pretty positive. I have been having a tough time finding a job so i have decided to take charge and do something about it. When the going gets tough, the tough get creative. I am excited about all the things i now feel capable of doing and hopefully this will turn everything around. WooHoo for believing in myself! Yesturday i biked the river parkway until we found a nice play spot and then jumped in the river. I am so glad the river is finally low enough to wade in, it was cold as hoth but well worth the dip. I want to encourage everyone to hop on their bike and check out the river parkway, it is so amazing right now. But be safe, the river is still unpredictable. In other news i have officially decided to give myself a little break from indie Ogden. Working 6 hours a day on a blog 6 days a week (last month i finally gave myself Sundays off) while being a stay at home mom is a bit draining. Don't worry, this blog isn't going anywhere but it IS getting BIGGER! I launched a search and found 4 amazing people to join the indie Ogden team and i am excited to meet with them and see what happens. I am one step closer to achieving my goal of making Indie Ogden into a local magazine! I have a vision and i have the drive ( thanks to coffee) and i am determined to make this happen. I want to give a hearty thank you to everyone who encouraged me to keep going, all the local businesses who have supported me and to Ogden for being so awesome. Oh! one last thing! Ogden Utah has its very own Indie film theater!!! Go check out Art house 502 and see a rad movie! no longer will you have to travel to slc, support local. And here are your days events! All day

Indie Ogden Utah's 100th post! at 10:42 AM Today is a glorious day. It is the 100Th post on the indie Ogden Utah blog! It's so incredible how far this blog has come since i started it. What began as a way to entertain myself while adjusting to a new town has become a gateway to incredible opportunities, wonderful friends and amazing adventures. I can not wait to see what the future has in store! Id like to send out a big THANK YOU to all of the people that have supported me, all of the fans of the blog and to everyone who loves this town and are striving to make it better. There has been something i have been wanting to do for years but never had the proper inspiration to be able to accomplish it. I am excited to say that i am finally making a ZINE! seriously? sick again?? at 11:47 AM I don't know what happened to my immune system but this winter is kicking my butt. I have an ear infection , i cant hear anything and the pain is well...substantial. But there is always an upside to things. I got to sleep in today without a girl child pouncing on me like a rabid mountain lion, there is a ton of snow outside so i don't feel bad about not going anywhere and i have netflix so unlimited chick flicks, Mountain bike videos and that 70's show at my fingertips. Perhaps my sweetie can finally convince me to play halo with him today. . . or not. So needless to say the promo video has been postponed until march 4th. be sure to RSVP HERE because now that i have more time to prepare there is going to be some really rad goodies for all the volunteers. OK so i have to go lie back down now, my cup of coffee can not compete with the power of prescription strength ibuprofen. I need rest and as usual i decided to postpone all of my writing until Sunday. Buy local tuesday at 9:37 AM Hurray we all survived valentines day. I spent my day with my daughter making a billion construction paper hearts and running around the yard chasing each other around. When my sweetie came home we made pizza from scratch and sipped on organic soda and giggled over candy hearts in Spanish- why is there a que' paso heart? lol. I feel so blessed to have such an amazing family and they keep me going strong. OK no more mushy gushy lets get on to the good stuff. Indie Ogden's Guide to fun at 11:39 AM For all you tourists here are MY recommendations for having a good time in Ogden! BARS ♥Kamikazes- punk bar is an old church, rad shows, pool tables, and 2 bars a mellow and rowdy bar. This is my go to place for good fun! ♥Brewskis- metal heads, derby girls and everyone in between hangs out here. cheap drinks and loud music. ♥City club- feeling a bit on the mellow side? check out city club and see the largest Beatles memorabilia and try a beetles inspired drink. VENUES ♥Mojos- rad all ages venue that has a quirky vintage store attached. they serve coffee all night- try the mojochino and there is a stage that everyone is welcome to get up on. oh and did i mention all the couches? ♥The basement- Another all ages venue that plays hardcore, metal and indie shows. affordable door prices and really rad bands. ♥Storm cellar- This is a new venue located inside uncommon grounds. Indie shows galore and all shows are only 5 bucks! Its a beautiful day for the dentist? at 9:34 AM Remember way back in time, last week when i took my daughter to the dentist for an exam? well, today is the day for the BIG PROCEDURE dun dun dun. During her exam they found some teeth that needed fixing due to my daughter love of all things extreme and today is the day she gets them capped. My insurance only covers the silver caps so were paying an ungodly amount out of pocket so that she can have her beautiful teeth back. I am so nervous for her but she did so wonderful last time that i have hope that we can avoid a hulk situation. Its Amazing outside and I'd hate to see it go to waste sitting inside all day so we decided to bike to the dentist. Family caravan! It is literally only 9 blocks away so don't get excited folks, this isn't an epic adventure. Guest blogger - Tiia at 8:49 AMHello Indie Ogden! Let me informally introduce myself. I'm Tiia and I am a luxury fashion accessory designer here in Ogden. Now, 'luxury' may seem like a scary word. But think about it, thanks to the world of mass production anything that is made or produced by hand is a luxury. Not to mention, that I use some bad ass materials and can offer something for pretty much everyone. That's what's so awesome about dealing direct with someone. I am a jack of all trades. In addition to my fashion accessories, I make custom baby gifts (Kumo Baby) and a custom throw blanket line to launch later this year. In another year or two, I see a clothing line in my future. I'm also a graphic designer and a dancer.  Now, let's talk about some of my favorite Ogden spots. I am kind of a foodie. I really enjoy food and the whole sensory experience of dining. My first pick is the Bistro 258. Amazing! I seriously crave the honey-glazed salmon and the creamy tomato bisque. And you can't go wrong with pasta. Tona is my other favorite. The atmosphere and food do not disappoint. I am a huge fan sashimi and their grilled fish dishes. My guy and my daughter both vote for the gyoza. I am not a gym goer. Gym's bore me, but put me in a dance studio and I'll gladly sweat. Studio Blue is Ogden's only adult clientele dance studio. Versatility is the key here. They offer classes like belly dance, jazz and hip hop; but they go a step further with pole dance, circus fitness, and kickboxing. They treat members to unique workshops and specials. And the staff is well informed and fun.  One of my haunts is Club Wet. It has all new owners, new energy, and a sense of going somewhere. It's housed in the old Toolbox, and in short order the only bar like it in Ogden. The carry Ogden's own Underground and have just amazing people working there. The entertainment is top notch and it's expanding to offer more and more. Keep karma in mind when tipping, no one likes to work for free. Oh, and check out the food specials. Burgers, spaghetti, and who knows what else. (there's that food thing again) My version of a candy shop is the Needlepoint Joint. I love walking in there. The staff is friendly, helpful and so full of experience. They offer classes periodically for beginners to advanced. The selection of materials is fabulous and always changing. Come to think of it I need to stop in more often. Well, that was exhausting. That's my 'Around Ogden in... a Blog Post.' I'm sure I forgot something, but maybe that just means I have to come back and bug you about what else is cool in Ogden. It's as cold as Hoth out there. . . at 10:23 AM This morning i woke up to the shining sun and clear blue sky. I opened my front door to get fresh air only to be awoken by what an only be described as 'winds of death'. The shining sun was deceiving, it is painfully cold outside. Usually on days like this ill crank up the heat, open the blinds a bit, make a smoothie and pretend its summer but i have an errand to run. Not just any errand oh no! I have to take my daughter to THE DENTIST! My daughter has never been to this kind of dentist appointment and i have no idea how she will react. if this was just a regular cleaning, fine but this is a bonafide dental procedure. You see one day as she was wrestling her friend they collided head to mouth and the girl child ran up and proudly showed me her bloody mouth and chipped tooth. Today is the day we get this tooth taken care of and i have been dreading it. BUT there are some great events happening today to make up for it all so get ready to pile on the sweaters folks because it's as cold as Hoth out there. Winterfest, date night and too much chocolate at 1:12 AM This has been a wonderful weekend, the best weekend ever...ever. I may have over exerted myself but it was oh so worth it. Friday morning i ran for the first time in months. A mama friend and i ventured out early for our first 'run', which was really more of a trot walk and gab session. It was quite exhausting but felt so good. I came home with a ton of energy so the girl child and i went adventuring to winterfest. We took the bus instead of biking as usual and came to realize that biking is so much better. The bus was detoured and dropped us off much too far away from downtown and on the way home we had to walk 8 blocks to get to the non-existent detour stop only to have 2 buses pass and not stop. we called the papa and he carted my bike over and we biked home with ease. I will never betray you again dear bike and bike cart, you are so much better than a bus. Winterest was lovely and slushy and the weather was perfect. We stopped into little cherry blossoms and gabbed with the owner Carey who is always a pleasure to talk to. Since it was a Friday Carey had adorable little cupcake bites from vintage cupcakes with hot pink frosting and teeny little edible pearls, yum! The girl child and i watched the toboggans attempt to race down the hill but the snow was not quite cooperating. A nice lady tossing Hershey's candy gave Hunter the ENTIRE container. sigh... there was no way to take it all away so there will be chocolate rations and late night mommy snacks for months. To end this day of childhood bliss hunter got to hug a coca cola bear and i do believe she thought he was real because later she said ' He was a good bear mommy, he didn't eat me'. I hope you all got a chance to check out winterfest; though the weather was a bit warm making it all a bit slushy it was still oh so fun. Saturday I lounged around in my jammies for as long as possible trying to recover from the exhaustion of the previous day . My legs felt brutalized and i woke up much to early for a Saturday. I decided to take it easy all day except for an important Newman-O run. Thanks to the mamas childcare exchange group I'm in my sweetie and i were able to go on a real date. Together. With out the babe. AT NIGHT! And thanks to a lovely lady at SLC city weekly i was generously gifted 2 tickets to see "life in a day" at Peery's Egyptian Theater. We took our seats in the beautifully decorated theater as the organ player entertained, It was all very magical and lovely. I saw Mike Brice whom i met at the Ogden tweet-up but no sign of Bill Murray...sigh. The movie was more than i expected and so hard to explain. We sometimes become so wrapped up in our own lives, our own routines, our own reality that we sometimes forget that there are others out there. This movie reminds us that we are not alone, that we are lucky to be alive and that life is precious. At one point the theatre is full of hysterical laughter and another moment were holding our loves hand trying to hold back tears. You see other realities and suddenly realize how small you are and how big you have the potential to become. I definitely left the theatre with a renewed appreciation for life and promise to myself to appreciate whats around me. Sunday will be a no plans day. We will eat cookies and watch cartoons and cuddle. This weekend was indeed the best weekend ever...EVER!
