Wednesday: karaoke, indie shows and free events at 9:34 AM




Yup its Wednesday again my favorite day of the week and only 2 days until Afternoon Tea at Ben Lomond Suites AND only one day until the Windsor drive show at mojos!!! I am so excited The ben lomond suites asked me to come and even more excited to dress up and take pictures! As you can see from all the exclamation points i am still coming down from a sugar high from all the pie i ate last night!
The Ogden rad mamas organizing a super awesome vent called "Rock N Romp", a family friendly show played at lower decibels so both parent and kids can enjoy their fave local bands. We are looking for 2 more fun, danceable bands to play plus local businesses to donate things for the raffle and volunteers as well. This is going to be a benefit show for a local non profit so if you are interested email me at indieogden@gmail.com

As usual Wednesday is literally bursting with events so get out there!

Art camp:
Artist, Annette Orrock will offer Adventures in Art Camp at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden for those ages 8 through adult on Monday through Wednesday, June 27 through 29, 2011 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuition: $80 includes supplies. Adventures will include the use of charcoal, pencil, watercolor, oil pastel and colored pencils.

Art at dinosaur park:
Join us by participating in our summer ART CLASS program at the George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park. Adventures in Art, is a two-hour class, once a week, for four weeks. Each week, new and fun activities will be presented. You will have the opportunity to work with clay, chalk, weaving, and many other activities that will be fun and educational. Lunch will be provided

music in municipal gardens:
Bring your lunch and enjoy the sunshine and music at the Amphitheater for Tunes at Noon on Wednesdays. Jun 29th: Jane Bruce

ultimutt readathon:
Children are invited to practice reading skills by sharing a book with a therapy dog. This event is held every Wednesday in June, 2011. Registration is required. Call 801-337-2639 to sign up.

Wild Wednesdays:
Are owls really wise? Get the answer to that question and many others as we meet three different owls and decode the mysteries that surround these amazing birds. Meet in the Visitor's Center.

Set on a colorful Greek island, the plot serves as a background for a wealth of ABBA songs. A young woman about to be married discovers that any one of three men could be her father. She invites all three to the wedding without telling her mother, Donna, who was once the lead singer of Donna and the Dynamos. In the meantime, Donna has invited her backup singers, Rosie and Tanya.

Talent in the park:

Friday in Ogden: marathon, metal and lots and lots of food. at 12:23 PM




This Friday is going to be awesome! Not only are there a ton of events but lots of restaurants are having specials thanks to the marathon. Today i will have 2 blog posts ( one for today and one for the weekend) because there is so much going on this weekend i just cant fit it all into one, so stay tuned for Saturday and Sundays events too! Also it's bike to work day in ogden! Did you bike to work or take advantage of he free pancake breakfast for cyclists? i want to hear about it!

i am happy to say i am on the advisory board for the Ogden Local Music Awareness Coalition that was just unveiled TONIGHT! i am not on any one's team, i am here to help the music scene as a whole for the benefit of all. I want to see Ogden thrive and flourish to it's full potential and i believe this is one of the ways we can achieve that! I love all the venues,bands and supporters of Ogden's music scene and i know if we all work together we can create something amazing. Each venue is so unique in Ogden, with different walks of life, musical genres and scenes. If we work together to help each other then Ogden CAN and WILL have an amazing BOOMING and SUCCESSFUL music scene. Lets put our differences aside and wok together! NOW! On with the show! Today's events are:

Ogden marathon and fitness expo-10AM to 8PM. The Zions Bank Ogden Marathon runners, their fans, and the Ogden Community will be kicking off the marathon weekend with the Fun & Fitness Expo located at the Historic Union Station on 25th Street and Wall Avenue.In addition to the runner registration the GOAL Foundation has planned a great festival with vendors, give-aways, music and food as well as some fantastic running gear retail sales. Bring your entire family to enjoy the festival as well as the history of the grand old depot, built in 1924. The depot houses museums and galleries featuring railroad history, firearms, gems and minerals, classic cars and the arts. The Union Station is also the home of a restaurant and model train shop. Make time for a casual stroll up Historic 25th Street where there are abundant dining options with virtually every restaurant offering specially priced carb-loading dinners. The Basement presents Tournament of Champions - Metal Edition - Round 1
Doors open @ 6:30PM. 7:00 - When Love Meets Destruction, 7:45 - 13 Steps To Nowhere, 8:30 - Necromaniac, 9:15 - These New Empires. The winner will be announced immediately following the last band's performance, so stick around until the very end.

The Gallery Theater at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden will present an original play "Bad Show at Boffington Hall" a melodrama by Paul Birkbeck on Friday & Saturday, May 20 & 21, 2011. Evening performance begin at 7 p.m. with open seating beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Mojos infamous and six year running acoustic night has, as always, a stellar lineup of local Ogden area singer songwriters performing. Come enjoy the sweet music of these artists with a one buck coffee, cocoa or tea. Junior and transportation at the sandtrap. Original heartfelt lyrics and steady grooves are what you will experience when Junior and Transportation perform. This is a band that transcends most genres and leaves you waiting restlessly for the next show to take you on a journey completely different than the last. Junior and Transportation have graced the stage with such talent as John Popper, The Cult, DJ Logic, Galactic, Global Noize, Bernie Worrell, Mike Clark, Jason Miles, Danny Louis, Eric McFadden, Jerry Joseph, Wally Ingram and Dave Schools of Widespread Panic. In 2008 Junior and Transportation were asked to perform the opening night of the Sundance Film Festival at the premiere venue, HarryO’s Nightclub

Ogden local music summit and more in Ogden, UT at 10:29 AM


Despite the rain and knowing i will undoubtedly be biking in it, i am pretty stoked about tonight. If you haven't heard, tonight is the OGDEN LOCAL MUSIC SUMMIT.

Something big is about to happen to the local music scene. This has never been done before, and it will take the music scene to the next level. Ogden will never be the same again...If you want to know what we are talking about, make sure you attend the "Ogden Local Music Summit" on May 19, 2011 at 7pm at The Basement, 329 24th Street. Free Pizza and Drinks provided by The Basement, Raffle for hundreds of dollars in cash and prizes, We will unveil a plan that will make the Ogden Local Music scene the best music scene not only in the state, but in the country! The event is FREE and everyone is welcome to attend, especially BANDS and FANS of local music.

There are lots of other awesome local things happening today so check the calendar to find out more! Tonight there are a couple rad open mics happening so after the Ogden music summit go check em out! Also its bike to work day Friday, will you be biking?

Mojos open mic
Mojos weekly OPEN MIC JAM is the best in town since 2004. Always FREE with one buck drinks. Come early to sign up and get a good spot. Musicians, poets, dancers, comedians & artists welcome, as well as the lover of these arts. Come and enjoy sweet local music and fun.

Sports page open jam
Come participate in the local Ogden music scene! The Sports Page is thriving and moving to larger two-story, live-music location down the hill on 24th. This Thursday is the last open mic before the move, come down and help close the current location down with a great show! Many of the heavy hitters will be playing, including: Ryan Bassett, Jim Gerritty, Greg Daniels, Brian Woods, Scotty Gardner, Tony Linheart, Kyle Spainhower, Kingtree, Codi Jordan, Steve Harding, Jason Vaughn, Jed Kiep, Jason Sawyer, Matt Froling Rick Gerber and Ben Jennings! Playing in the styles of rockin’ roll, jam rock, reggae, funk, jazz, and gypsy, it’s sure to be a good time for all!


In other news i got my business cards from a contest i won thanks to the UPS store of Utah! My friend Trissta from "living on the chic" blog designed it for me and they looks fantastic! i am so excited to hand them out! What do you all think of them?FRONTBACK
