 Saturday in ogden: Rants about How much i love you all and epic weekend adventures! at 10:02 PM
Gah! is it the weekend already? Wow how time flies! Its been one heck of a week full of ups and downs and emotions and laughter and intensity and oh so much water.....ya know because its been so hot. Anyway its finally the weekend and time for me to purge my mind of all the clutter of the week and unwind in the desert with friends and children and pretty dresses and lots of silly photos. i don't know about y'all but i am a highly emotional person. i put all of my love into Indie Ogden and taking care of my community and helping everyone i can. I am highly invested in the greater good and i want Ogden to succeed, i want my friends to succeed, i want local businesses to succeed and i want nothing, nothing in return. I do this because i love this town, i do this because i finally feel like this is my home and i do this because you all have given me so much love and hope and generosity. I am by no means perfect and everyday i strive to better myself. It's a life long process we all must go through. I want you to all know that if i have been neglecting you let me know, i am here for you and together we will all succeed. Let us support each other whole heatedly with out any hidden agendas. Lets us support each other for the sake of community and not to "win" at anything. We all have the potential for greatness and there is enough of Ogden to go around for us all to have the chance to express ourselves. I hope that i have inspired some of you and i am constantly inspired by you. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities i have been given because of indie Ogden, so many things i have always dreamed of doing have come true. if i have not said THANK YOU enough i am sorry so , THANK YOU! Without all of the amazing people that are here in Ogden, none of this would be possible. There are so many rad musicians, artists, business owners, writers, actors, film makers, visionaries, community advocates ... i would love if you would share your links to your local Ogden projects so we can all network and discover and make new friends. Mojos Ogden show review 4/28/11 at 1:38 PM Last night at Mojo's in Ogden,Utah was magic. It took a bit for the he crowd to warm up, it wasn't the usual Mojo goers and everyone was waiting for someone else to get up. I stood in front of the stage as Dirty Blonde took over and soon people gathered around until everyone was standing bobbing their heads even a little hip shake here and there. Dirty Blonde rocked it and the lead singers voice was uniquely epic. Dirty Blonde is a little bit rockabilly, a little bit blues, some indie here and there but mostly just good old fashioned rock n roll. This band is well worth a trip to see them live, a band like this is not easily forgotten. The Dignitaries came on stage with so much energy it was near impossible not to dance around. The lead singer was a powerhouse of energy and knew exactly how to get the crown groovin'. What can only be described as reggae punk with some rock and roll thrown in for good measure, The Dignitaries are anything short of pure joy. There were a couple times that things seemed a bit off beat, more so due to either excitement or technical difficulties than performance, but overall all i wanted to do was skank and drink a mohito and by the second song no one was able to stay sitting down.  Like a step back into a time to the era of Motown , Damato's voice serenades and soothes. His lyrics are genuine with messages that empower and make you want to be better person. Damato has a truly soulful voice and he so effortlessly turns a painful experience into beautiful music that forces you to feel what he feels. By the end of the song the weight of it all lifted, and you're free. Damato is force to be reckoned with , and i am honored to have been given a glimpse of something so powerful.  Hugo came on stage like a modern cowboy, like a cold beer on a summer day. His music has a way of making you forget that anyone is around, you want to dance and sway like you're all alone. I was especially excited to see Hugo live since watching his Thai music video for his song 'Sai Lom'; It was just so beautiful and moving despite my not understanding a single word. Hugo is a mix of blues, Appalachia, soul and rock n roll creating a unique blend that is comparable to no other. Hugo's performance was really one i will never forget, effortless and magic, a perfect ending to a perfect show. Friday- snow in spring and rock n roll at 10:49 AM So remember how it was spring and we were all wearing sandals and t shirts and playing at the park? yeah, that's done now, nature decided it's winter again. Its like giving someone a chocolate Sunday , letting them take a bit and then throwing a pile a dirt on top. It's just rude and unnecessary. Now i love Ogden and i have to admit that the snow does make things look incredibly beautiful but i have a pile of sundresses that are just waiting patiently to be worn and all i want to do lately is sit in the grass and eat trail mix. Is that so much to ask for? W Until nature decides to make it spring again ill guess we will just have to look at this as an opportunity to make out very last (please be the last) snowman of the season. it will be a small, muddy and probably sad looking snowman but it will be a snowman none the less. We could also make our last snow angel, have our last snowball fight and sled our last hill. Spring will be here before we know it ...right? right? Today is Friday which means there are so many things happening i think my head may explode.
