Monday: zucchini, movies in the park and hops at 9:01 AM
Today is Monday and i am feeling pretty positive. I have been having a tough time finding a job so i have decided to take charge and do something about it. When the going gets tough, the tough get creative. I am excited about all the things i now feel capable of doing and hopefully this will turn everything around. WooHoo for believing in myself! Yesturday i biked the river parkway until we found a nice play spot and then jumped in the river. I am so glad the river is finally low enough to wade in, it was cold as hoth but well worth the dip. I want to encourage everyone to hop on their bike and check out the river parkway, it is so amazing right now. But be safe, the river is still unpredictable. In other news i have officially decided to give myself a little break from indie Ogden. Working 6 hours a day on a blog 6 days a week (last month i finally gave myself Sundays off) while being a stay at home mom is a bit draining. Don't worry, this blog isn't going anywhere but it IS getting BIGGER! I launched a search and found 4 amazing people to join the indie Ogden team and i am excited to meet with them and see what happens. I am one step closer to achieving my goal of making Indie Ogden into a local magazine! I have a vision and i have the drive ( thanks to coffee) and i am determined to make this happen. I want to give a hearty thank you to everyone who encouraged me to keep going, all the local businesses who have supported me and to Ogden for being so awesome. Oh! one last thing! Ogden Utah has its very own Indie film theater!!! Go check out Art house 502 and see a rad movie! no longer will you have to travel to slc, support local. And here are your days events! All day

Hand made in ogden and today's events at 10:34 AM![]() Did anyone else get to see the movie in the Ogden amphitheater last night? It was fun, and crowded, and loud but mostly fun. The kids ACTUALLY paid attention to the movie ( because it was friggin hilarious!) and at the end they all got up and danced. Have i mentioned lately that i love Ogden? Well, if you haven't gathered that from this blog then ...I LOVE OGDEN! Today i asked my blogger friend and Ogden local Liv Taylor to do a little guest blog post on finding locally made treasures here in Ogden. Here are her recommendations CHECK IT OUT! You can find her at http://livwrites.com and http://livytay.etsy.com. *************************************************************************** Last summer I was extremely pregnant, working full-time and basically just too lazy and tired to visit the Farmer's Market. This summer I'm totally hitting it up. It's just one of the many awesome things about Ogden I have yet to experience and feel like I'm missing! It opens on 25th Street July 9 (Saturdays from 8am-1pm), and you'll find all sorts of vendors ranging from fresh, organic produce to artwork and hand-made jewelry. The Market will run through September, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to browse what the local talent has to offer. Being a bit of a jewelry maker myself, I'm always looking for supplies that are unique and memorable. I find a lot on Etsy, which is another venue for artisans to sell their wares or simply the supplies needed for your own crafts. One local Ogden-based Etsy seller, Silver fir farms, Prints has vintage or modern styled prints that can even be personalized for your little one. There are also a lot of shops in Ogden that sell art/jewelry/accessories on consignment. You can find beautiful pieces Borrowed Earth Emporium (2242 Washington Blvd), Upscale Resale (2262 Washington Blvd) and ume Boutique (186 25th Street). If you'd like to take a drive through the 12th Street canyon, you can also find local painters' art at the Grey Cliff Lodge, where you can grab a bite to eat while nestled into the mountain side. I'm sure there are other great places to find unique supplies, or ready-made items for yourself and home, and that's where you come in. Where have you found awesome, local talent? ************************************************************************* Today's events:Adventures in art camp: Artist, Annette Orrock will offer Adventures in Art Camp at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden for those ages 8 through adult on Monday through Wednesday, June 27 through 29, 2011 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuition: $80 includes supplies. Wednesday: awesomeness plus giveaways at 10:16 AMIt Wednesday and the birds are a chirpin', the kiddos jumping on her bed and some how my house is not a disaster after leaving the boy and girl child unattended last night. yeah, its gunna be a good day. So where did i go last night? Oh, only on an adventure of EPIC proportions! A last minute decision sent me and my good pal Chelsi on a little drive to SLC to a yelp event....or so we thought. Little ride PSSHHH that's for squares! Little did we know we were going on a friggin ROAD TRIP! We zigzagged up a canyon, backtracked because we almost ran out of gas, went back into the canyon, looked a moose square in the eyes and terrified him, saw Bambi. Finally, We made it to the Sun and moon cafe in emigration canyon unharmed. We got there late of course ( well worth staring a moose in the eyes) but still got to hang out with some nice foodies, try some yummy appetizers, hear some grade A blues and try some EPIC beer. No really its called EPIC beer and it is...EPIC. Best of all it was all FREE! Some say being late to an even and missing all the food and not winning the raffle and driving for EVER wouldn't be worth but we say NAY ( yeah we do because were old school like that) adventures are always fun with a friend. When you are in a car for what seems like days , lost in a canyon on an empty gas tank you get to bond; you open up your heart and soul and on the ride home you get stop in in and out burger for a milkshake. True story. If you are interested in becoming a Yelper and getting invited to parties where you get hecka free food, drinks, prizes and meet really rad folks then go to http://www.yelp.com/ogden-ut and start reviewing your fave places!
