![]() ![]() I am trying to find the words to express my joy but all i can come up with is HUZZAH! I was contacted by dentist Jim Ellis (ironically my first choice in Ogden dentists because of his awesome tweets) about working out a good deal for my wisdom teeth removal. Whew! The source of all of my stress and pain recently is finally being released. I don't have to drive to SLC and i don't have to keep saving for eternity. . . well, what seems like eternity. I am excited that Jim Ellis will be my dentist as his rave reviews and genuine love of dentistry have eased my anxieties quite a bit. Id like to take this moment to give a GIANT shout to Uncommon grounds/Cafe mergot, mermaid baby, Jim Hutchins, Amber Loranger, Rachel Olsen, Candice Ortiz, Christine Smith, and the many other people i am undoubtedly forgetting, for your support and love through this frustrating process, i love you all! I think this day is bound to be full of sweet surprises. As i was writing this i was interrupted by a knocking on my window and when i looked out my husband had a bird in his had who apparently narrowly escaped becoming cat food had he not found him in time. Surprisingly the bird sat calmly in his palm for a good 15 minuted before Bryan finally coaxed it back into the tree, to a HIGHER branch. Bryan is like an animal whisperer, all animals (even wild ones) seem to be completely comfortable with him. We will be on hikes and they will just saunter on up as if they know him. Dogs especially seem to love him and even the most vicious ones will turn to butter once he pets them. He really should have been a veterinarian instead of an adrenaline junkie cyclist, but i also cant imagine him not biking every day. Speaking of wild animals we seem to attract, our slimey pet snail "booger" who we though would only live a few days (and who we thought died twice already) apparently can live up to 15 years and grow to an astonishing 2 pounds! looks like we found the perfect pet! He seems quite happy in his new home and moves around quite a bit, they eat a lot more than i thought and since i always have fresh produce around i think he will do just fine. He is quite a hit with the kiddos as well and play dates lately have been an hour of oohing ahhing over 'boogers" home. Well On with the show, here are today's events! Be safe, create, and have fun! ![]() ![]() Mondays are one of those days i could do without. Monday means the weekends over , my hubby has to go back to work and the girl child must unlearn all the bad habits shes acquired the past couple days. However the upside of Monday is that the week starts anew and you have a full 7 days to make something awesome happen. Oh yes! before i forget, the local first fundraiser/ local brew fest was amazing! the music was great, the food delish and the brews were the best i have ever had. If you are interested in brewing your own beer, soda or even making cheese check out the union station fermentation on historic 25th! This week my goal is to take great photos of some of my shoes and vintage dresses to sell on EBAY to raise the last of the funds for my wisdom teeth removal. I shouldn't be too hard, trough the benefit and my own funds we have raised all but $120-$200 of it; I am still unsure on the final price as it depends on how bad my teeth are impacted. I have officially decided to go to SLC to get them removed at the DR.Wisdom teeth place. As much as i love supporting local there just is not a dentist that i can afford here. None of the low income clinics can accommodate the severity of my teeth and i do not reach the weight minimum for the medical study. But this magical place in SLC has the cheapest wisdom teeth removal i have seen and half the price of any estimate i have ever gotten, $900 for all 4 teeth! I am excited and nervous but i really can not wait to have it over with. ![]() ![]() I want to start off by giving a hearty thank you to to uncommon grounds, now known as cafe mergot, for the wonderful benefit party for my wisdom teeth. They were able to raise a good amount of funds! After lots of phone calls and research it looks like i will going to salt lake to get it done. I had an appointment with a local dentist for Tuesday but after talking to them again it turns out it's a lot more than i can afford. There is a place in SLC called DR.wisdom teeth and it is a clinic that ONLY does wisdom teeth. they have the best prices i have ever seen: $900 for all 4 or $800 for 2. Since it is only a $100 difference i am shooting for all 4. I need Almost $700 more and i am hoping i can come up with some rad ideas to raise it fast because the discomfort of rebellious impacted wisdom teeth is almost as fun as falling face first down metal bleachers, yea i have had that happen to me... NOT fun. If anyone had some fun ideas please by all means comment with them. ![]() ![]() Yay its Friday. . .and i am stuck inside nursing my wisdom teeth. f you have wisdom teeth you know that one minute they are fine and the next minute they decide to cause intense pain. Mine are impacted in the worst way and are doing all kinds of crazy things inside my mouth... all 4 of them. Dental insurance is one of those wondrous things i just do not have. I really thought i was never going to get them out. I had applied for medical studies but was denied because i didn't meet the requirements for minimum weight and my teeth were too complicated for small clinics that only offer local anesthetic. Every time i got a quote it was disheartening, i could do one tooth at a time but it already takes all my strength not to lost it during a cleaning , even then it seems like something more pressing comes up just when we have saved enough. Yesterday when the pain flared up again and i asked my friends advice i was sent a little miracle. How simple the idea and yet i had never considered doing it before, a benefit of course! The amazingly generous and loving folks over at Uncommon grounds, now known as cafe mergot, replied to my post saying they would gladly put on a benefit event for me and i found a couple oral surgeons that have sliding scales too. This Saturday night at uncommon grounds come enjoy some rad local music, henna tattoos and more! check out the details on UNCOMMON GROUNDS/CAFE MERGOT FACEBOOK PAGE! Any excess that is raised i would love to donate to anyone else that needs a little help with medical bills. It had always been so hard for me to accept a helping hand . I always felt like i had to do things on my own and prove that i was strong. Recently however i went to a psychi open house and Alison Compton was talking about self worth and how we should be more open to receive as much as we give . Our friends do not help us because they think we are weak, they help us because they love us. I have never been so overwhelmed with kindness in my life, it literally brought be to tears. Only in Ogden would someone help a near stranger without hesitation. So here's to Ogden, best little city in the world. Now get out there and enjoy it! Enjoy it for me too, ill be here on the couch watching power rangers eating applesauce.
