rad dentists, a bird whisperer and lots of amazing events at 10:42 AM![]() I am trying to find the words to express my joy but all i can come up with is HUZZAH! I was contacted by dentist Jim Ellis (ironically my first choice in Ogden dentists because of his awesome tweets) about working out a good deal for my wisdom teeth removal. Whew! The source of all of my stress and pain recently is finally being released. I don't have to drive to SLC and i don't have to keep saving for eternity. . . well, what seems like eternity. I am excited that Jim Ellis will be my dentist as his rave reviews and genuine love of dentistry have eased my anxieties quite a bit. Id like to take this moment to give a GIANT shout to Uncommon grounds/Cafe mergot, mermaid baby, Jim Hutchins, Amber Loranger, Rachel Olsen, Candice Ortiz, Christine Smith, and the many other people i am undoubtedly forgetting, for your support and love through this frustrating process, i love you all! I think this day is bound to be full of sweet surprises. As i was writing this i was interrupted by a knocking on my window and when i looked out my husband had a bird in his had who apparently narrowly escaped becoming cat food had he not found him in time. Surprisingly the bird sat calmly in his palm for a good 15 minuted before Bryan finally coaxed it back into the tree, to a HIGHER branch. Bryan is like an animal whisperer, all animals (even wild ones) seem to be completely comfortable with him. We will be on hikes and they will just saunter on up as if they know him. Dogs especially seem to love him and even the most vicious ones will turn to butter once he pets them. He really should have been a veterinarian instead of an adrenaline junkie cyclist, but i also cant imagine him not biking every day. Speaking of wild animals we seem to attract, our slimey pet snail "booger" who we though would only live a few days (and who we thought died twice already) apparently can live up to 15 years and grow to an astonishing 2 pounds! looks like we found the perfect pet! He seems quite happy in his new home and moves around quite a bit, they eat a lot more than i thought and since i always have fresh produce around i think he will do just fine. He is quite a hit with the kiddos as well and play dates lately have been an hour of oohing ahhing over 'boogers" home. Well On with the show, here are today's events! Be safe, create, and have fun! Wednesday: biking to work and playing in the sun at 10:48 AMI think that all businesses should bring back the "bring your daughter/son to work" days. It is so important for our children to see what we do for a living, how we work and what it is to have responsibility. It also created a bond between parent and child and helps them to better understand their parent and what they do to support their family. Plus its lots of fun and unless you work in a hazardous environment it can be fun to see your kid try and do your job. As many of you may know Wednesday is my favorite day of the week. there are always a million events happening to satisfy you until the weekend, so get to gettin'! Thursday: Last nights recap and todays adventures too! at 9:18 AM Wow was last night AMAZING. I went to the basement to check out "we are the willows" and was blown away. Not only is this feller as polite as daises but he has a unique voice that well, you just have to hear. The best i can do is to say his voice is a cross between a singing coyote and a siren ( the mermaid kind that is). Stay tuned for my full review later today/tonight! In the meantime check out his tour diary and website for tunes. After the show i headed over to the Sand Trap for some Karaoke with my good pal chelsi, her always entertaining hubby and their lovely friend Jordan who's voice is Amazing. It was loads of fun, there was lots of dancing involved and as usual the cheezy fries were finger lickin' good.Come on folks, there is a lot of amazing stuff happening here in Ogden, ya just have to go. Who knows, you make a new friend. monday: art, movies, punk shows and teeth at 9:29 AM![]() Mondays are one of those days i could do without. Monday means the weekends over , my hubby has to go back to work and the girl child must unlearn all the bad habits shes acquired the past couple days. However the upside of Monday is that the week starts anew and you have a full 7 days to make something awesome happen. Oh yes! before i forget, the local first fundraiser/ local brew fest was amazing! the music was great, the food delish and the brews were the best i have ever had. If you are interested in brewing your own beer, soda or even making cheese check out the union station fermentation on historic 25th! This week my goal is to take great photos of some of my shoes and vintage dresses to sell on EBAY to raise the last of the funds for my wisdom teeth removal. I shouldn't be too hard, trough the benefit and my own funds we have raised all but $120-$200 of it; I am still unsure on the final price as it depends on how bad my teeth are impacted. I have officially decided to go to SLC to get them removed at the DR.Wisdom teeth place. As much as i love supporting local there just is not a dentist that i can afford here. None of the low income clinics can accommodate the severity of my teeth and i do not reach the weight minimum for the medical study. But this magical place in SLC has the cheapest wisdom teeth removal i have seen and half the price of any estimate i have ever gotten, $900 for all 4 teeth! I am excited and nervous but i really can not wait to have it over with. Good riddance!! ---Artist, Annette Orrock will offer Adventures in Art Camp at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden for those ages 8 through adult on Monday through Wednesday, June 27 through 29, 2011 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuition: $80 includes supplies.
