Monday: art films, nature and beautiful music at 7:15 PM
What an amazing weekend it was. Saturday i put on my prettiest dress and my giant hat and went out on an adventure in the desert with some good friends. We explored abandoned places, got a flat tire, took silly photos, got a bit dehydrated and sunburned and of course got a little target practice in. It was nice to get away for a minute and forget about everything i am obligated to do. sometimes we need little getaways , even if it is just a few hours. I am excited to announce that the new website will be launching on the first. We hit a couple bumps at first but no one is stopping us now and we are all so very excited. I think this first week with the new indie Ogden team has been fantastic and i cant wait to see what the future holds. From here we can only go up right? I heart wednesday! at 9:41 PM
I hope you all enjoyed yesterdays amazing guest post on how to survive the zombie invasion in Ogden Utah. Keep an eye out because this is an ongoing series and next issue will start to cover some in depth tips to help YOU survive. If you are a friend of mine you have probably heard me squeal with joy at my recent good luck. I not only found a job but i have an interview for another one too. I may just have 2 rad jobs after searching for so long! Determination and a bit of creativity paid off and i can now let out a big old sigh of relief that i am done with my search and i can get back to work. On the downside, i start Thursday which means no wisdom tooth removal for me yet, it is once again pushed back BUT now i can afford to go under! Yay! So i am holding onto my tooth money for dear life and waiting until i have a day off to go yank these babies out! In other news i am SO SO glad i started writing these posts the night before because Wednesday is jam packed full of meeting and happening and schmoozing and snacks. I will be out and about getting stuff done like a champ while toting around one rambunctious curly haired girl child on my bike. Yeah, life is feeling pretty darn good right now...but I'll still need that coffee. Have fun this Wednesday folks and soak up all that awesome because in a blink of an eye summer will be over. Yup you heard it, only 2 more weeks until school starts. Don't worry, i will still be here to guide you through the back to school blues with tons of fun things to do after your classes. And if your like me and you don't go to school then heck, summer can last all year long....Kinda. **********TODAY'S EVENTS**********

Not only is this feller as polite as daises but he has a unique voice that well, you just have to hear. The best i can do is to say his voice is a cross between a singing coyote and a siren ( the mermaid kind that is). Stay tuned for my full review later today/tonight! In the meantime check out his tour diary and website for tunes. After the show i headed over to the Sand Trap for some Karaoke with my good pal chelsi, her always entertaining hubby and their lovely friend Jordan who's voice is Amazing. Hand made in ogden and today's events at 10:34 AM![]() Did anyone else get to see the movie in the Ogden amphitheater last night? It was fun, and crowded, and loud but mostly fun. The kids ACTUALLY paid attention to the movie ( because it was friggin hilarious!) and at the end they all got up and danced. Have i mentioned lately that i love Ogden? Well, if you haven't gathered that from this blog then ...I LOVE OGDEN! Today i asked my blogger friend and Ogden local Liv Taylor to do a little guest blog post on finding locally made treasures here in Ogden. Here are her recommendations CHECK IT OUT! You can find her at http://livwrites.com and http://livytay.etsy.com. *************************************************************************** Last summer I was extremely pregnant, working full-time and basically just too lazy and tired to visit the Farmer's Market. This summer I'm totally hitting it up. It's just one of the many awesome things about Ogden I have yet to experience and feel like I'm missing! It opens on 25th Street July 9 (Saturdays from 8am-1pm), and you'll find all sorts of vendors ranging from fresh, organic produce to artwork and hand-made jewelry. The Market will run through September, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to browse what the local talent has to offer. Being a bit of a jewelry maker myself, I'm always looking for supplies that are unique and memorable. I find a lot on Etsy, which is another venue for artisans to sell their wares or simply the supplies needed for your own crafts. One local Ogden-based Etsy seller, Silver fir farms, Prints has vintage or modern styled prints that can even be personalized for your little one. There are also a lot of shops in Ogden that sell art/jewelry/accessories on consignment. You can find beautiful pieces Borrowed Earth Emporium (2242 Washington Blvd), Upscale Resale (2262 Washington Blvd) and ume Boutique (186 25th Street). If you'd like to take a drive through the 12th Street canyon, you can also find local painters' art at the Grey Cliff Lodge, where you can grab a bite to eat while nestled into the mountain side. I'm sure there are other great places to find unique supplies, or ready-made items for yourself and home, and that's where you come in. Where have you found awesome, local talent? ************************************************************************* Today's events:Adventures in art camp: Artist, Annette Orrock will offer Adventures in Art Camp at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden for those ages 8 through adult on Monday through Wednesday, June 27 through 29, 2011 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuition: $80 includes supplies. Adventures will include the use of charcoal, pencil, watercolor, oil pastel and colored pencils. Discovery time: Free stories, music, and learning activities for children from infancy through five years of age. Registration is not required. monday: art, movies, punk shows and teeth at 9:29 AM![]() Mondays are one of those days i could do without. Monday means the weekends over , my hubby has to go back to work and the girl child must unlearn all the bad habits shes acquired the past couple days. However the upside of Monday is that the week starts anew and you have a full 7 days to make something awesome happen. Oh yes! before i forget, the local first fundraiser/ local brew fest was amazing! the music was great, the food delish and the brews were the best i have ever had. If you are interested in brewing your own beer, soda or even making cheese check out the union station fermentation on historic 25th! This week my goal is to take great photos of some of my shoes and vintage dresses to sell on EBAY to raise the last of the funds for my wisdom teeth removal. I shouldn't be too hard, trough the benefit and my own funds we have raised all but $120-$200 of it; I am still unsure on the final price as it depends on how bad my teeth are impacted. I have officially decided to go to SLC to get them removed at the DR.Wisdom teeth place. As much as i love supporting local there just is not a dentist that i can afford here. None of the low income clinics can accommodate the severity of my teeth and i do not reach the weight minimum for the medical study. But this magical place in SLC has the cheapest wisdom teeth removal i have seen and half the price of any estimate i have ever gotten, $900 for all 4 teeth! I am excited and nervous but i really can not wait to have it over with. Good riddance!! ---Artist, Annette Orrock will offer Adventures in Art Camp at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden for those ages 8 through adult on Monday through Wednesday, June 27 through 29, 2011 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuition: $80 includes supplies. As stated on their facebook page "The nurture the Creative Mind Program (NCM) is a program that teaches students self confidence, self expression, as well as character development while cultivating creativity and learning. The NCM Foundation through its programs opens the minds of students to the many ways that poetry is used in their everyday life, while teaching them the educational benefits and structure of poetry. This expands their existing thoughts and beliefs which allows the students to become open-minded in others facets in education. This will help them in life to become multidimensional students who are then most probable to become multidimensional adults." How beautiful is that? they have a book of work from students that have been in the program and it can be purchased on their site as well as tickets to the show, shirts ( i love mine!) and art too check it out here: http://www.nurturethecreativemind.com/Home/Merchandise besides that little bit of awesome there are a ton of other events happening as well: Wild Wednesdays:Did you know that the bald eagle had to compete with the turkey to become our national symbol?
