Tuesday in ogden utah: tattoos, puppies and metal at 10:37 AM![]() its Tuesday and although the clouds say otherwise its a perfect day to get out and enjoy Ogden, UT. I've been feeling under the weather lately and i think i may have finally over exerted myself enough to cause my immune system to revolt. I will be taking it easy today, watching cheesy 80's cartoons and trying to convince my body that i do indeed deserve to be well. On another note i am looking for a place to get a new tattoo. I got some birthday tattoo dough and i have been craving another tattoo for a long time. I am excited to finally get my 'yellena art' inspired tattoo. I have a budget and i know what i want the problem is i have never gotten a tattoo in Ogden. where to go? ideas? I'd love to document my tattoo experience and blog about it so if your a tattoo artists in town send me your info so i can start making a decision! before i tell you the couple rad events happening tonight i want to encourage you to take a look at the black dog project here in Utah. Black dogs are the last the be adopted the first to the euthanized . Black dog syndrome is a known problem among shelters, people opt out of adopting black dogs because of the stigma surrounding larger black dogs. The truth is every animal that is in a shelter needs a home no matter what size or color. They are afraid, confused and just want to be loved. So, if you are in the market for a pet and happen ti find yourself at a shelter please take a second look at that black dog, he may just be your new best friend. Ogden city oylers game The Oylers are having a scrimmage tonight at Friendship Park in South Ogden over by Ogden Regional Hospital. The game will start around 7:30. check out thier facebook for more! https://www.facebook.com/ogdencityoylers "The Trials of Darryl Hunt" Free Screening The ACLU of Utah, Peery's Egyptian Theater, and the Center for Diversity and Unity at Weber State present a free screening of "The Trials of Darryl Hunt.Spanning two decades, this powerful documentary chronicles a brutal 1984 rape/murder case in North Carolina and the wrongful conviction of then 19-year-old Darryl Hunt for that crime. Despite multiple trials and DNA testing that proved his innocence, Darryl spent nearly 20 years in prison before being fully exonerated. At once a moving human drama and a scathing social commentary,"The Trials of Darryl Hunt" reveals the insidious way racism still pervades American culture and our criminal-justice system. This chilling look at a life stolen and eventually redeemed defies our presumption that all Americans have the right to unbiased justice and exposes the need for judicial reforms to prevent other wrongful convictions. This event is free of charge and open to the public Across The Sun, Burning Twilight @ Mojo's Ogden! Mojos Ogden show review 4/28/11 at 1:38 PM Last night at Mojo's in Ogden,Utah was magic. It took a bit for the he crowd to warm up, it wasn't the usual Mojo goers and everyone was waiting for someone else to get up. I stood in front of the stage as Dirty Blonde took over and soon people gathered around until everyone was standing bobbing their heads even a little hip shake here and there. Dirty Blonde rocked it and the lead singers voice was uniquely epic. Dirty Blonde is a little bit rockabilly, a little bit blues, some indie here and there but mostly just good old fashioned rock n roll. This band is well worth a trip to see them live, a band like this is not easily forgotten.![]() The Dignitaries came on stage with so much energy it was near impossible not to dance around. The lead singer was a powerhouse of energy and knew exactly how to get the crown groovin'. What can only be described as reggae punk with some rock and roll thrown in for good measure, The Dignitaries are anything short of pure joy. There were a couple times that things seemed a bit off beat, more so due to either excitement or technical difficulties than performance, but overall all i wanted to do was skank and drink a mohito and by the second song no one was able to stay sitting down. ![]() Like a step back into a time to the era of Motown , Damato's voice serenades and soothes. His lyrics are genuine with messages that empower and make you want to be better person. Damato has a truly soulful voice and he so effortlessly turns a painful experience into beautiful music that forces you to feel what he feels. By the end of the song the weight of it all lifted, and you're free. Damato is force to be reckoned with , and i am honored to have been given a glimpse of something so powerful. ![]() Hugo came on stage like a modern cowboy, like a cold beer on a summer day. His music has a way of making you forget that anyone is around, you want to dance and sway like you're all alone. I was especially excited to see Hugo live since watching his Thai music video for his song 'Sai Lom'; It was just so beautiful and moving despite my not understanding a single word. Hugo is a mix of blues, Appalachia, soul and rock n roll creating a unique blend that is comparable to no other. Hugo's performance was really one i will never forget, effortless and magic, a perfect ending to a perfect show.
