INDIE OGDEN GIVEAWAY! at 9:25 PM

So the giveaway is underway and we have already had a good bit of entries. I have been a bit busy and distracted with my friend in town and i haven't been able to post about the sponsors on time so i am extending the giveaway until January 5Th! That's 5 extra days that you have to enter to win these fantastic prizes!

So lets talk a bit about a couple of our sponsors. Alison Compton is an amazing hairstylist who lives in Ogden with her boyfriend Rody and dog indie. She works at salon Nouveau and loves working with hair but she also loves to run and is training for the 2011 Ogden marathon. Alison has been styling hair since 2003 and her favorite part of being a hair stylist is color. One of my biggest rules when getting my hair styled is the stylist MUST have great hair and Alison's hair is amazing! Check out her website and visit her at salon Nouveau for a new look!

Our second grand prize is sponsored by Rachael Blackman Collins. this woman is amazing and can do it all. she has run a marathon, is a mother of 4 boys, is a photographer, goes to school AND she has recently started the Starr foundation. The Starr foundation is an amazing project that aims to uplift and honor our elderly citizens in nursing homes. She has already started going To nursing homes and taking photo sessions for FREE! She believes our elderly are too often ignored and forgotten and deserve to feel loved and beautiful. Her foundation is so inspiring and i encourage you all to get involved. If you interested email her at lifeasrach@gmail.com.

Id also like to share a few pics of my ride on the trolley. It was so nice to be able to get a ride around downtown with my hands full of bags and babies. It was a pretty fun ride and my daughter really dug it so if your downtown check it out.

Super awesome buy local giveaway! at 11:00 AM

It's here folks the super awesome buy local giveaway! yay! I've been so excited about this lately and could hardly wait to unveil the awesomeness! Be sure to invite tell your friends about this giveaway so they can enter too! There are lots of ways to enter so listen up-
You can get one entry for following us on our blog, facebook and twitter
You can get one entry for every one of the sponsors that you like/follow - Rovalis, sock monkeyn around, Allison Compton, cherry blossoms and grounds for coffee
and you can get one entry for re-posting about Indie Ogden on twitter or facebook!
None of your entries are valid unless you post on indie Ogden's facebook and tell me which ones you've done.
OK on to the good stuff there are 2 grand prizes and 5 smaller awesome prizes too!

The first grand prize package is a whole new look by Alison Compton- A gift certificate for a basic Color service, women's haircut, eyebrow wax, and color sealing deep conditioner. Also Alison has been working with a product line called Unite, and whoever wins will get a couple of her favorite products from the line. Total value of this package is over $165.

Alison has have been a Utah Cosmetologist since December of 2003, but her love for styling hair started when she was just a little girl. Every doll and every Barbie she owned was given a haircut, and as she grew she would practice styling on my cousin and all of her friends. So much, that they often got very bored with her always wanting to play with their hair! Color is definitely her most favorite service because it provides instant change in a subtle way, or as dramatic as you'd like. Big changes can happen with color in just 35 minutes! Her strength behind the chair would have to be communication and having the ability to gain a feel for what people are really asking for. This approach helps her to be able to guarantee all services she provides. Shes love styling hair at Salon Nouveau on Historic 25
Th Street in Ogden, because of the sense of community the salon and the whole street has to offer. Everyone supports each others businesses, and the girls at the salon have become her second family. Her major goal for 2011, would be to continue her education with the art of hairstyling.

Second grand prize is a Photo shoot of your choice by Rachael of fotograffiti. Use this prize to take family portraits, engagement photos, children's portraits or anything else you can think of. package values at over $75.00
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Rachael Blackman collins is a mother of our boys, a photographer and organizer of the Starr foundation. The Starr foundation is an amazing program where Rachael goes to nursing homes and hospitals and takes fun photo shoots free of charge. She also provides entertainment and soon she'd like to add an "adopt a grandparent" option! Sponsorship can be in the form of monetary funding OR volunteering to come and play games/talk/spend time with their resident. She is always on the lookout or volunteers and sponsorships so if your interested email her at lifeasrach@gmail.com.

Next up are 5 smaller prizes for some lucky readers-
Two people will win a $20 gift certificate to grounds for coffee!

Grounds for coffee is such a cute cafe. Their Historic 25Th location has a yoga studio inside and comfy chairs and their Harrison location has amble space and a kids area. The

At Grounds for Coffee, our goal is simple; to bring you the freshest coffee possible, in a timely and convenient manner, at competitive prices, with an emphasis on customer service and support. We've been providing this to our local customers in Utah since 1991.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Rovali's Ristorante Italiano is a family owned and operated restaurant established in December 2006. Located on historic 25Th, it was the very first place i went out to eat at when i moved to Ogden. They are so friendly and inviting and truly made me feel like i was already home. Here is what they have to say about their restaurant. 'We want to bring you our unique style and our very best entrees! We view Rovali's as our own little slice if Italy right here in Ogden. Our dishes are always fresh and our original recipes will leave you wanting more! Come and join our family for a nice sit-down dinner and experience Chef Ro's delicious homemade recipes.'

wednesday is awesome at 2:43 PM

I got a late start today and almost forgot to do a Wednesday post and Wednesday is the most exciting day of the week! This morning i woke up late and rushed out of the house to make the snowy trek to grounds for coffee on Harrison for my coffee date with Rachael Blackman Collins .  In all the chaos of getting a toddler ready and  making sure i had my phone (that i forgot to charge and died 5 minutes later),  i accidentally forgot my keys. luckily it is a beautiful day and i didn't mind playing in the snow for 45 minutes while i waited for the hubby to bring me  the keys.

I am very excited about Rachael Blackman Collins project and i want to tell you all a bit about it.  Rachael is starting a non profit called Starr foundation, an organization that takes photos for elderly people in nursing homes and terminal ill children in hospitals. The photos will be low cost or free and it will give the people who need it most the opportunity to feel special, beautiful and loved.  An alarming amount of  amazing people with a lifetime of stories are forgotten in nursing homes and so many parents of sick children are left with so few photos of their children smiling. Rachael's project is so inspiring and i am excited to be a part of it. There will be a website soon but if you want to be involved either by donating, sponsoring or being on the committee then contact her at photographybyrachael@comcast.net.

On such a beautiful day like this it's only natural to want to go frolicking in the snow How many words can you use to describe snow?  Come find out during the nature centers special winter program.  Discover how animals use snow to travel, build homes, and even hide from predators.  Don't forget your hats, gloves, and snow boots!  Meet in the Visitor's Center. http://www.ogdennaturecenter.org

Later in the day join  the 'Independent Film Society' for some fun times getting to know your fellow film junkies in the local scene hear at the Ogden meet up at Grounds For Coffee. all are welcome!

Feeling crafty head back over to the nature center  and create all-natural products with which to pamper yourself and those you love. Bring two empty bottles (6 oz. or smaller) and one jar (reuse a jelly jar!) to package your homemade bath products and combine them into gift baskets you'll be proud to give! From 6 - 7ish in the west classroom of the L. S. Peery Education Building. We'll supply all ingredients and information -- you bring your share.

Low on cash but wanna go out? Come out and support the Nurture the Creative Mind Foundation as Mojos hosts the BEST open mic in Ogden. ALL musicians, poets, singers, MCs etc are welcomed and wanted. There will be no featured artist this month instead mojos is  just having a completely OPEN mic. FREE FREE FREE.I hope to see you all there.

After a long day of frolicking, crafting and being creative end the night by being a rock star for a few minutes and join in open mic night at Brewskis.

As always be safe, have fun and enjoy Ogden!
