weekends are for schmoozing at 9:39 AMFriday is going to be jam packed with art music and schmoozing. Whats schmoozing? you mean you don't know? Schmoozing, fine folks, is the fine art of mingling and networking with strangers. So this Friday try your hand at little schmoozing and see the wonders of it all for yourself. Now that you've been enlightened lets get on with the show. First up on Friday head over to uncommon grounds for ' the 411 on local music' with- Hectic Hobo Holy Water Buffalo Mountain Hymns The Descriptive Private Partners El Caporal And more! Come check out the tunes and get yourselves a drink (of the caffeinated kind). Show starts at 4 Pm and will run till 11 Pm. Its a one drink minimum at the door ($5) but that gets you any drink in the house, plus the whole show. So come support some local music and local coffee. Now that your plenty caffeinated you should have the energy to check out all the cool stuff happening at the Ogden's First Friday art stroll! --The Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden will exhibit the art of the members of the Palette Club of Ogden in Main Gallery during January 2011. A reception in association with Ogden's First Friday Art Stroll will happen Friday, January 7Th from 6 to 9 p.m. --The exhibit will remain on display through January 29Th. --Sock monkey'n around antiques with have a refreshments table care of Utah tea room and they will be open late until 9pm. so go in a browse the amazing finds, sip some tea and schmooze it up. --Listen to the street musicians and tour the various galleries to enjoy the fine art produced here in Ogden and surrounding area. Galleries remain open later for this special evening. Head over to Mojos for Friday acoustics with great local jams and good company. Grab a cup of coffee and sit in a comfy chair and make a new friend because Mojo's is the friendliest place in town. Feeling a bit rock n roll? Brewskis is having an amazing show with slim chance and his psychobilly playboys. never heard of them? check them out here! After all the first Friday festivities have simmered down but your still in the mood for some entertainment then hop on over to salt rock coffee for the first performance of the year by mission improv-able brought to you by hilarity house productions. Mission improvable is a hilarious short-form comedy improv troupe. Short-form improv is a quick, energy-filled style that has the audience yelling suggestions and rolling in the aisles. Its great fun and a ton of laughs! There are also plenty more events i didn't have room to mention so check out the indie Ogden calendar ---------- SATURDAY start your Saturday with some free yoga at borrowed earth emporium and while your there check out their winter market with great local vendors, crepes and coffee. Do you want to help preserve Ogden's history? The Golden Spike Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society has taken on the effort of restoring, Denver & Rio Grande Western railroad steam locomotive #223 to an operational engine. Restoration shops are located in the Trainmen's Building of the historic Ogden Union Station in Ogden, UT. Work sessions are held there every Saturday morning starting at approximately 9:30 AM if you love the outdoors and love the snow check out winter trails day at north fork park. Brewskis will be having a Saturday showcase featuring mullet hatchet so check out some great bands and good brew. there is so much happening i cant list it all so be sure the check out the calendar too! --------- SUNDAY as with all awesome weekends this one must come to an end. Sundays tend to be a bit blasé. Take this time to relax or check out one of Ogden's great parks. Sunday is also a great day to have a great cup of coffee and my favorite place is grounds for coffee, try their peppermint mocha, yum. as always have fun and be safe!
