Zombie survival guide: Ogden edition Part2 at 7:58 PM

Welcome back, faithful readers. I am glad you not only made it this far, but that you decided to come back. That means two things...

1 - You have a chance at survival, (The operative word being, chance)

2 - You’re smart enough to know that I will keep you alive.

Now...We are going to take a week away from the survival guide to talk about something that I personally, and I would like to think that everyone here at Indie Ogden, have a bit of not only a vested interest, but a desire to see something good come from it.

Research, and development for a cure for Juvenile Diabetes.

There just so happens to be an upcoming event in the Ogden area that not only gives all of us zombie enthusiasts a chance to come together and have a blast, and an amazing night, but raising money for a wonderful cause. Strankenstein’s Zombie Prom for Juvenile Diabetes.

My older sister Heidi was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes when she was 13 years old, and has had to factor that into her life ever since. There has never been any history of diabetes in our family, and it was very odd when she was diagnosed. It has even had such an impact in her life that my beautiful niece, who is now two years old, was a huge discussion, because of diabetes.

Steve and Trish Strank are producing, and bring the Utah Zombie Prom to us again for the 3rd year in a row now, and it will be held on Friday September 9, 2011 at the Union Station on beautiful 25th street in Ogden, from 6:00 to 11:00pm. Trish's Aunt Sarah passed away at age 34 as a result of having diabetes from the age of 7. This is their wonderful tribute to her.

There will be a ton of amazing and fun activities, as this is an all ages event. There will be a costume contest to award the King and Queen of the evening. Door Prizes, a photographer stalking the area, catering (included with ticket), live....err...dead entertainment! (Dance/Live performance from Cadence Dance Co.) Of course with all of the crazy undead antics going on...Who You Gonna Call? How about the Salt Lake City Ghostbusters, who I heard will be on the scene helping keep the peace.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $15 at the door.

Children 6-12 are $6, and $10 at the door.

There is also a Family Pass available for $45.

Your ticket price includes a trip through the catering line, (although I can tell you faithful readers, if there is only a table full of human remains AGAIN, I am going to be severely pissed off.)

You can purchase the tickets through the website. (link)

Not only is this an event that continues to grow by leaps and bounds on an annual basis, but it is for something that is very near and dear to so many people. Break out your zombie blood, shred up some clothes, and head on out to Ogden on September 9th, and let’s all have an amazing night full of fun, food, dancing, and well...ZOMBIES.

Feel free to look for me...I’ll be the crazy guy out front, passing out flyers about saving your life from the zombie apocalypse. Next week, we will begin discussion about our battle plan to survive the city of Ogden when that time comes.

Rock over London,

Rock on Chicago,

Wheaties, breakfast of champions.

This week I figure I would stay with zombie related material, but go in a bit of a different direction. We are less than a month away from the Zombie Prom, and since I not only personally have a major interest in it, it’s in Ogden, and it for a wonderful reason.

******************About Jeff Dillon*******************

Jeff Dillon is a 31 year old graduate (with honors) from the Slytherin house, and gained his doctorate at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. He is a veteran of the battle for Endor, he was the drummer for the rock band Drive Shaft, and was a part of a secret genetics team at InGen until…”The Incident”.

Nowadays, he spends his time as an independent filmmaker, with the Faded Sky Entertainment production company, and an avid arts advocate. You can usually find Jeff under the pseudo moniker, “Sookie” at local bars singing karaoke with his friends, and a cold PBR, (you have probably never heard of it though).

He enjoys his time with a really good book, horror films, indie music, pop music, corn dogs, coffee, beer, or trying to convince people that 28 Days Later is NOT a zombie film.
