My love affair with my bike and really cute dogs at 12:00 AM

OH how I love to bike! the wind in my hair, the sun on my shoulders and the ability to make abrupt turns into gardens and yard sales without killing a pedestrian or a cat. Yes, i love my bike i call her Lucy and i treat her well. Lucy is a beautiful red Fuji track SE with a 43CM frame, 650C wheels, a brooks saddle shaped to my bum, a black star top tube cover, bmx brakes and a sweet wicker basket. It's as if it was made just for me.

When i first got it, i was a bike messenger and poor Lucy endured long work hours and quite a bit of abuse including more than one hit and run out of a parking garage, but she trudged on. I rode this bike through pregnancies, in the rain, to and from work, on bike trips and on daily errands and it has still stayed strong for over 5 years! Nowadays it tows around my daughter and picks up goat heads and hauls my groceries. throughout the years i have probably put thousands of miles on this loyal bike. Yes, many bikes may be better suited for her job, but Lucy is my one and only.

Why am i boring you to tears with the details of my dear Lucy? well, its because i want YOU to ride a bike and fall in love with cycling as well. Today is a special day and i am excited about this local event and i do hope you come and join me at the Road Respect Rally to encourage respect among Cyclists and Drivers. At 10:30 am meet at the Ogden Amphitheater Entrance 343 E. 25th St. There will be a Mayoral Proclamation, FREE helmets until they run out, FREE Creamies (which is apparently soft serve ice cream, creamies HA!) , A Bike Rodeo, Adult sized big wheels, A prize wheel, AND Ogden Bicycle Collective is making Road Respect patches. come out and enjoy the fresh air and make some new friends!

Last but certainly not least i recently met an amazing dog who needs a loving home. Oreo is a six-month-old Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix who was surrendered to the Ogden-Weber shelter by his family because they were not able to take care of him.
He is great with kids and was super lovey when my daughter met him. He is being trained in his foster home and he will be neutered this week and would love to find his forever home once he is healed! If anyone is interested, please email humanesocietyofnorthernutah@digis.net to set up an adoption meeting with Oreo.
There are a lot of other dogs at the shelter that need foster homes: http://humanesocietyofnorthernutah.org/Volunteers_Page_7.html

You are so cute and reading your site makes me laugh so far. You and my daughter seem very much alike. I just wanted to say 'Hi' and 'Thanks' for the smiles you bring to me. Have a great day, Barb **P.S. I hope Orea has a bright future. I would love to take him in, but I already have 3 dogs (2 of them being rescue dogs)**
